To quote VP Biden, This is a big fucking deal! The Weekly Standard of all people now reconsidering Ben Carson in a more favorable light? This is the words of Bill Kristol himself-Mr. Establishment if anyone is:
"Generally speaking, The Weekly Standard is from the Edith Piaf school of second thoughts. We don’t have many. And when we do, we keep quiet about them. As the great chanteuse put it: Non, je ne regrette rien"
"But on rare occasions we admit we may—just may—have a few regrets. Here’s one: We’re now inclined to think we overstated matters when we began an editorial six weeks ago by asking rhetorically, “How big a problem is it that the two leading Republican candidates for president aren’t actually qualified to be president?”
"We hasten to assert that we in no way regret offering this judgment about Donald Trump. We wrote that Trump is “a self-regarding blowhard who’s not much of a conservative to boot, who is not now and will never be qualified to be president.” We stand by that verdict."
"But we also worried that Carson is “not yet prepared to be president,” and we averred, “he’d have to show an awful lot of growth to be ready a year from now.” What’s more, for Carson to win the general election, “voters would have to conclude that he is so extraordinary a figure that for the first time in American history, they would send a man to the White House who had neither held elective office nor served as a general officer or cabinet officer.”
"We’re less certain now than we were in September that voters couldn’t come to such a conclusion. We’re less certain we couldn’t."
"Consider Ben Carson’s campaign, which suggests organizational and communications skills that would be welcome in the Oval Office. Consider his positions on the issues of the day, which, while not as well-developed as they will have to become, seem basically consistent with a reformist, constitutionalist, American-exceptionalist governing conservatism.:

See that-all the negative press from the 'secular progressives' is helping him. Tom Brown approvingly notes that Trump has been attacking Carson.
"Trump is having a ball with this. I've seen the 1st signs of grumbling about Trump in the comments section of Breitbart the last few days... because he's going after Ben and his stories and beliefs. Breitbart readers have been pretty solidly pro-Trump, but I suppose they are more anti-MSM than they are pro-Trump. That would conveniently fit the narrative that Breitbart (as an alternative media source) would like to promote. Most laughable have been the comments suggesting Trump is no better than the MSM... doing everything humanly possible to white-wash HRC's record while heaping suspicious on a fine man like Ben Carson. Despicable! Lol."

This makes me worry a little bit. We don't want Trump to get hurt with the base. I'm not sure if his mockng of Ben helps or hurts him. Trump is usually the guy who can get away with doing things other people can't. But this Carson business is so strange and unpredictable.
Most other candidates are shying away from attacking Dr. Ben.
"GOP rivals wary of going after a wounded Ben Carson."
'I pray to God my candidate doesn’t do it,' an adviser to one 2016 campaign says.

Now I see even Bernie Sanders is defending Carson.

He says it's not fair game to go after what Carson said in the past.
I don't buy this. I mean in the case of Dr. Ben who has no experience it's certainly not out of bounds. His biography certainly wouldn't be such a big deal if he didn't make such wild claims and none of it checked out.
But for now it will be interesting to see what all this does to Carson's poll numbers. As for Trump what he is saying about Carson is funny with the virtue of being true. I just hope it won't be counterprodutive.
