I'm actually kind of disappointed in Josh Marshall for being disappointed in John Kasich.
"Just when I think John Kasich is the one Republican presidential candidate who would not be scary to have as president he proposes new government agency to spread "Judeo-Christian beliefs" to places like China, Russia, and the Middle East."

This is a point I've made repeatedly. A President Kasich-or Jeb, Rubio-to say nothing of President Christie!-is for me terrifying.
The only difference between Trump and a Kasich or Jeb, is the latter are better at concealing what the GOP platform really is. To me, what terrifies me is not a Trump or even Carson but simply a generic Republican.
And when you look into Kaisch's history and his immigration proposals, he has scant room to be lecturing Trump on not being ridiculous.

Kasich too wants to build Trump's beautiful wall.

As I've documented in the past, Trump is not the first GOPer by a longshot who has suggested that the 14th Amendment doesn't bequeath citizenship on the children of illegal aliens. Kasich himself in the past has run on ending birthright citizenship.
Then there is Kasich's horrible record on a woman's right to choose.

"During a campaign stop in New Hampshire last month, presidential hopeful John Kasich was confronted by a libertarian voter who said he wants to support a fiscally conservative candidate who’s “not a threat to a woman’s right to control her own body.” In response, Ohio’s Republican governor said of access to abortion, “Obviously, it’s the law of the land now, and we live with the law of the land.”

See, this makes him more dangerous to a woman's right to choose as he can give a seemingly disarming response like this. Some mushy 'independents' might take this response at face value.
Of course, saying you won't as President try to overturn Roe vs. Wade isn't really saying much. In truth its the SJC not the President who could make that call.
If he were POTUS-God forbid-he'd be in the position to add a couple more conservatives to the Court. We could end up with a 6-3 or 7-2 Court that could have the votes to overturn it.
But there are all kinds of executive actions short of literally overturning R. v. W. that a anti choice President could take to chip away and that is what Kaisch has done in Ohio.
"Despite that evenhanded answer, Kasich is no moderate when it comes to abortion rights. Back home in Ohio, he has consistently supported his Republican colleagues in the state legislature as they chip away at Roe. In the past two years, the number of clinics providing surgical abortions in Ohio has dropped from 14 to nine. If an antichoice measure included in a budget bill passed this summer is allowed to stand, that number could dwindle even further, to just seven clinics by the end of the year. Last week, Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio and Women’s Med Group in Dayton filed a lawsuit in an effort to keep that from happening."
"Ohio Gov. John Kasich said recently that he didn't think the party needed to go that far in trying to crack down on illegal immigration. But during his run for governor in 2010, according to the Columbus Dispatch, he reiterated his longtime support for ending birthright citizenship."

So how does Kasich get to call Trump crazy for something he himself proposed as recently as 2010 when running for Ohio Governor?
Then there is Kasich's horrible record on a woman's right to choose.

This is why any establishment candidate like Kasich falls, I am happy about it.
