ISIS Wants Us to Clamp Down on Syrian Refugees

And the GOP-with some chicken Dems-are falling right into the trap.

DailyNewsBin makes the crucual point that none of the Paris attackers were Syrian refugees. However, it seems the attackers wanted to create just this impression.

"French authorities took ten of the ISIS attackers out of action on Wednesday, arresting eight and killing two others. Each was in possession of a fake passport aimed at creating the illusion that they were Syrian refugees. However the ringleader of the attack came from Belgium. He appears to have issued his henchmen the phony passports so that if they were caught or killed it would create the impression that they were Syrian refugees or had snuck into France disguised as Syrian refugees, with the specific intent of scaring the world into banning refugees on false pretense."

France, to its credit, continues to accept refugees.

"Even as France continues to wipe out the attackers, its President has made clear that his nation will continue accepting Syrian refugees. That’s not a surprise; after all, it appears ISIS attacked Paris with the specific intent of trying to scare the nation into cutting off refugees. In contrast, republicans in the United States appear to have taken the bait and are indeed attempting to block Syrian refugees despite their having nothing to do with the ISIS attack."

This begs the question: If France, who was attacked, is not tamping down or even 'reviewing' their refugee process why are GOPers in the US demanding this? Couldn't be that they're trying to exploit a tragedy for political gain!

The irony is that what ISIS really fears is not the response of a Chris Christie who puffs out his chest that he wouldn't take in a 3 year old Syrian refugee but the coolheadness of President Obama who understands we shouldn't suddenly go on a 180 degree sea change. You can't be reactive.

The fact that none of the attackers were refugees fits the prototype. This is what's not appreciated but needs to be. These attacks are much more likely to be homegrown than from immigrants.

This is why the idea that we 'underestimated' ISIS may be overblown. It's not clear that the Paris attack really came from ISIS-or more that it was ISIS inspired and they are now taking credit for it.

If there were an attack in the US-God forbid-it's likely to be from homegrown terrorists who have never been to Syria or fought with ISIS.

"At least three dozen people in the United States suspected of ties to the Islamic State were under heavy electronic or physical surveillance even before the Paris attacks, senior American officials say. But unlike the attackers in France, the officials say, the majority of those under investigation here never traveled to Syria to fight alongside the Islamic State or receive training from it."

"In many ways, the officials say, that makes the American investigations even harder. Those under investigation typically have little terrorism expertise or support from a cell, which makes thwarting an Islamic State-inspired attack in the United States less like stopping a traditional terrorist plot and more like trying to prevent a school shooting."

Yet the GOP continues to demonize Syrian refugees.

  1. They continue to demonize Syrian refugees, and it apparently works with the Honey Boo Boo loving public. Should we be surprised?

I've got to wonder about the ISIS grand strategy though:

So they're pissing off Europe, Russia, the US, China, Iran, Hezbollah, Lebanon, Turkey, Egypt, "Kurdistan," Iraq, Jordan, Japan even Al Queda.. and "Anonymous"... WTF? They really are a "death cult" then? How do they see the end game of all this?

  2. You got to remember, these folks believe when they die they go straight to Heaven with 100 virgins to devour-probably naked and feeding them grapes. LOL.

They want a Holy War. And the GOP and other Right wing parties want-a Holy War.

We keep hearing we underestimated ISIS but this misses the point. ISIS isn't doing these attacks themselves, they are convincing homegrown nationals to do them.
