Obama Says it: Trump no Worse Than Other GOPers

While he's not running this year, this comment shows he'd know how to run if he were.

"President Obama said Tuesday that although Donald Trump gets the most attention, the rest of the Republican presidential field is just as bad as Trump when it comes to remarks that are concerning to the international community."

"Speaking at a press conference in California during a trade summit of Southeast Asian leaders, Obama said foreign observers are “troubled” by the rhetoric in the Republican race, particularly about climate change."

“I find it interesting that everyone's focused on Mr. Trump, primarily because he says in more interesting ways what the other candidates are saying as well,” Obama told reporters. “And so he may up the ante in anti-Muslim sentiment, but if you look at what the other Republican candidates have said, that's pretty troubling, too.”

“They're all denying climate change. I think that's troubling to the international community, since the science is unequivocal,” he continued.

"Obama said “this is not just Mr. Trump,” noting that none of the GOP candidates favor action on climate change."

He also comes as close as you are going to get to endorsing Hillary without endorsing her. He also isn't ruling out making an endorsement down the road.

For Tom Brown: yes, Tom, there is already a thorough going Truther movement on how Scalia really died. Yes, the liberal media says it was a heart attack but that's what they want you to think.
When I heard a report that he was found with a pillow on top his face, I knew there'd be claims that he was offed. LOL.

Now these reports actually may well be false but this is not going to worry the Truthers.

Part of it is, that Scalia has died at such an inopportune time for conservatives.

"The entire current legal strategy of the conservative legal movement has been stymied by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. His unexpected passing robs conservatives of the 5-4 advantage they had on the Supreme Court at the very moment they were making arguably their most aggressive play yet to cement some their most cherished and longest sought legal gains, in areas like abortion, voting rights, and affirmative action."

"While much of the immediate focus after Scalia's death over the weekend was on the long game of who replaces him, and when, the impact is far more immediate and potentially historic. Even if a Republican president ultimately names Scalia's successor, the conservative legal movement will have suffered a dramatic setback by virtue of how many important cases it had queued up for this year that will be thrown into turmoil by a court with only eight justices and the potential for 4-4 tie votes.

"With a number of high-stakes cases at or heading towards the Supreme Court, conservative legal advocates face a situation where they are unlikely to get the sweeping decisions they were hoping for, especially in the cases specifically designed to roll back progressive policies. Even any favorable outcomes in some of the test cases they lined up for the high court are now in jeopardy."

“Clearly, on a lot of these issues, they’ve been using the First Amendment particularly as a sword that hasn’t been seen previously to push a conservative agenda,” William Marshall, a law professor at the University of North Carolina, told TPM. “Without Justice Scalia, the chances that they’re going to succeed in the way that they had on some of these cases certainly becomes a lot less.”

Kind of makes you think that maybe God is a liberal after all!

P.S. I know Tom won't like the God-Talk but you can't have everything. God Talk does give you some good analogies some times.

  1. Jesus Fucking Christ Mike! Enough with the God damned God talk already!

    ;D

I'm Ok w/ God-talk. I couldn't stop myself from doing it if I tried. But why try? How many times have I written here that I'm going to get on my knees and pray to Jesus that [fill in the blank for some horrible spiteful outcome that would make me feel warm 'n fuzzy inside because my enemies forced to undergo some heart rending emotional crisis]?

    1. No, but it's fun to say things like "Jesus Fucking Christ!" and "I'm gonna get on my knees and pray to Jesus that everyone on the far right is filled with intense hatred for each other and never forgive each for the next 50 years" ... stuff like that.

I remember one of my friends in college said, after a group of us had finished watching a documentary on the death camps of Nazi Germany (featuring some female relative of a camp commander who was discovered to have what appeared to be lampshades made from human skin in her house after the war):

"Can you imagine? What was she thinking? 'Please Jesus!!... I really really want a pair of matching human skin lampshades for Christmas this year! Thank you for listening... your ever humble & faithful servant, Gerta'"

    2. ... and if it did go down something like that, you *KNOW* her faith was bolstered when Jesus came through for her!
