President Hillary Clinton's First 100 Days

They sound pretty good to me. Paul Waldman

"Patrick Healy describes what President Hillary Clinton’s first 100 days would be like:

"Should she win the presidency, Hillary Clinton would quickly try to find common ground with Republicans on an immigration overhaul and infrastructure spending, risking the wrath of liberals who would like nothing more than to twist the knife in a wounded opposition party."

"In her first 100 days, she would also tap women to make up half of her cabinet in hopes of bringing a new tone and collaborative sensibility to Washington, while also looking past Wall Street to places like Silicon Valley for talent — perhaps wooing Sheryl Sandberg from Facebook, and maybe asking Tim Cook from Apple to become the first openly gay cabinet secretary."

"Former President Bill Clinton would keep a low public profile, granting few interviews and avoiding any moves that could create headaches for his wife, like his recent meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch during the F.B.I.’s investigation into Mrs. Clinton’s email practices."

"Mrs. Clinton would even schmooze differently than the past few presidents have. Not one to do business over golf or basketball, she would bring back the intimate style of former Presidents Ronald Reagan and Lyndon B. Johnson, negotiating over adult beverages. Picture a steady stream of senators, congressmen and other leaders raising a glass and talking policy in the Oval Office with her and her likely chief of staff, John D. Podesta, as her husband pops in with a quick thought or a disarming compliment."

"The only thing I don’t buy is the part about Tim Cook. Give up running one of the world’s biggest and most influential companies to be, what, secretary of commerce? I doubt it.

I don't care what the media says. I still believe Bill Clinton is a tremendous asset.

For her to have a 50 percent female cabinet will be a tremendous historical milestone.

As for her bringing back LBJ style schmoozing is one of the reasons I think she'll be such a great President.

I wrote the other day about the Hillary Clinton style of leadership. We very well have a female chief executive in both the US and UK by the end of the year-along with Angela Merkel in Germany who has been there for a long time-so clearly she is doing something very right. President Obama clearly sees her as a very important ally.

We seem to be at an epoch in the Western countries where we need the Hilary Clinton style of leadership. It's a move away from the bomb throwing rebel types like Trump, Bernie, and Ted Cruz-who are happy to blowup the system if they don't get their way, to a feminine style of leadership based in mediation and brining the country back together.

Hillary will be able to heal a number of our fractured racial and ideological lines, I believe.

Teresa May, for her part, is running under the slogan of: One Britain.'

She has to somehow solve the Brexit impasse in a way that brings Britain back together-rather than fractures it as the Scotts and maybe the Irish go their own way to stay in the EU.

Mike, have you ever seen the show "Veep!" I've just started watching it and I like it. It features a female vice president (Selena Meyers) and her comical exploits. Her "bag man" Gary (whose job is really pretty menial) is always whispering information in her ear about people so she can make small talk with them. In one scene Gary isn't there and she has another guy fill in... he looks through a binoculars while she's about to mingle with some baseball players (Baltimore Oriels) in the middle of the baseball field and he tells her via phone some info about each player, because she doesn't know anything about baseball. It occurred to me I'd need the same kind of help if I was Veep! Lol. In another episode they bring up the golfing thing... poor Selena is always waiting on a call from the president (in fact, you never see the president AFAIK), and one day she hears he's golfing with a potential rival (a male governor by the name of Chung), so she tries to marshal some spies to give her some info about what's going on with that. I used to play golf, but I sucked so bad I gave it up. So again, I can understand her position.

Even though Selena is not the most ethical or sympathetic of people, I still love her as a character. The woman who plays her was "Elaine" on Seinfeld (a show I never really watched much).
