No, Tonight Doesn't Hurt Ted Cruz

I'm aggravated as I somehow slept through tonight and missed it all. I'm trying to get some real commentary and Chris Matthews is not giving it.

He absurdly claimed that tonight hurt Cruz. No, it hurt Donald Trump.

First of all, how does it hurt Cruz? Are there any bridges he hasn't' long since burned that are still standing?

It helps him. It makes him the head of the #NeverTrumpers and movement conservatives, Glenn Beck, et. al.

Mark Levin loves it:

"Historian Craig Shirley: no, Reagan did not endorse Ford."

Matthews said it was bad form. When has Cruz been about good form? No, if Cruz had endorsed Trump he'd be another loser like Chris Christie-loser is Levin's word.

"Christie = Ignoramus."

Trump tells yet another bad lie:

"Wow, Ted Cruz got booed off the stage, didn't honor the pledge! I saw his speech two hours early but let him speak anyway. No big deal!"

Sure. If you believe Trump knew this was coming I've got a Trump U degree to sell you.

Let's be honest here, Chris Matthews. Tonight hurt Donald Trump. Despite all the chicken hawks like Marco Rubio, Chris Christie, and Scott Walker endorsing him the two most important endorsers have sat out: Ted Cruz and John Kasich.

Surely, if Cruz endorsed Trump you'd say that's great news. So how can his refusal not be bad news? If you assume party unity matters and all week the assumption is that it does, then this is a Trumpster fire.
P.S. Great Huffington Post headline: Cruz buries the hatchet: in Trump's back.
