So Bernie Truthers the Bern Did Fine but Hillary Won That Debate

They were claiming two things after that debate.

1. First of all how crude to talk of who won a political debate. Bernie Maniacs are too pure for such concepts.

2. But just the same the Bernie Maniacs were certain that: Bernie won the debate.

They based this on a Fox News focus group-and a couple other focus groups- and lots of online polls. Trouble is that neither online polls or focus groups are at all predictive.

When the online polls showed not just that Bernie destroyed Hillary but that Jim Webb did too-who's favorite memory is that time he killed a man-I was pretty confident that they are worthless.

Today a real poll from NBC reflects what most of us saw: Bernie did well but Hillary did better.

"Hillary Clinton's performance in Tuesday night's debate resonated strongly among members of her party, with more than half—56%—saying she won the debate. Just 3% of Democrats who watched or followed coverage of the debate said she did worst, giving her a net performance score of +53. Bernie Sanders scored a +30, showing he still appealed to a significant number of Democrats, according to the latest NBC News online poll conducted nationwide by SurveyMonkey from Tuesday evening immediately following the debate until Thursday morning."

That is reflective of what most of us saw. He didn't lose but she won.

Hillary also raked in the big money.

UPDATE: Hillary also won the debate big according to a Huffington Post poll.

"A 55 percent majority of registered Democratic voters who watched the debate said Clinton won. Sen. Bernie Sanders…was a distant second, with only 22 percent saying he was the best of the night. Clinton also saw an uptick in the proportion of Democrats who say they want her to be the party’s presidential nominee. Before the debate, 44 percent of registered Democrats said they wanted Clinton to be the nominee. After the debate, the figure had risen to 52 percent."

  1. By "real poll" do you mean the one where 60% of the participants did not even watch the debate, but "followed coverage", i.e. formed their opinion solely based on the post-debate Hillary lovefest?

  2. Clearly you have no idea about the science of polling.

I''d say that any poll that shows her losing in a landslide not just to Bernie but to Jim Webb isn't a real poll.

Look, Mitt Romney's team did this in 2012-the real polls were just biased and they believed Gallup-that had flawed numbers-and we see that helped them a lot.

If Bernie Maniacs are going down this rabbit hole it augurs nothing too well for them either.

  3. If you have some basis to show that all these polls-CNN, Gravis, NBC are wrong then present it.

But the polls that showed Bernie winning 82-13 are a joke that no one who say the debate-like myself-would believe for one minute.
