Rand Paul, Unhappy Warrior

He hasn't had much success convincing voters to excited that he's running for President and doesn't look to happy about it himself.  He says he's 52 but after a day of campaigning he feels as much as 50 years older.

"GOP presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said on Friday the media just doesn’t get his sense of humor."

"Paul, who took flak this week for a subdued appearance in a day-long livestream video produced by his campaign, told Fox’s “America’s Newsroom” that he was joking when he called the exercise "dumbass."

“People tend to be a little too serious and don’t quite understand sarcasm,” Paul told host Martha MacCallum.

"Paul’s “dumbass” remark, captured on camera, was a response to whether he was still in the running for the GOP presidential nomination, which he said was the most Googled question about him."

“I don’t know — wouldn’t be doing this dumbass livestreaming if I weren’t," he said during the livestreamed video. "So yes, I still am running for President. Get over it.”

"Paul looked visibly frustrated in the video and told a Washington Post reporter he didn’t know why the campaign had decided to produce it."

"His somber performance prompted RedState.com editor Erick Erickson to write an op-ed calling for Paul to “take your campaign out back and shoot it.”

"Paul didn’t appear much happier during Friday's Fox News appearance, barely cracking a smile as he defended his low poll numbers to a skeptical MacCallum."

In earlier posts I've aruged that the GOP debate could be improved if some of these candidates with no hope-Rick Santorum. Kindsay Graham, Bobby Jindal-were simply 'not invited' to the next debate.

The obvious place to start is with Rand who sounds like he'd be happy with some time off. Meanwhile, the Kentucky GOP is not happy that his pointless effort for President is taking from his run for his Kentucky Senate seat. 

It's amazing but Rand seems as unexcited by his run as the voters do.

As to why his campaign wanted him to do that livestream thing: they surely wouldn't have if they had realized how bad he would be at it.
