Asked About Debt Ceiling Deal, Cruz Launches into Broadside Against the Moderators

I tell you that Kid;s Table debate was a bust and they should just phase it out in the next debate, though from what I understand that's not what's going to happen.

This 'Adult's Table' debate and I use the word adult pretty advisedly is just great stuff IMO anyway.

We've had Trump smacking down Kasich for insutling Trump and Carson.

We had Jeb call out Rubio for his chronic Senate absenteeism. Rubio never did answer John Harwood's question of whether he hates his job.

Now Ted Cruz chose not to answer another moderator's question;about the debt ceiling deal but instead launch into a bromide against the moderator's questions which he alleged are unfair to the Republicans.

. Asked a question about the debt limit, Ted Cruz responds: “The questions asked so far in this debate illustrate why the American people don’t trust the media. This is not a cage match.” He gets raucous applause.

“How about talking about the substantive issues people care about?” Cruz asked, saying that the moderators of the first Democratic debate on CNN went easy on the candidates from the other party.

“That debate reflected a debate between the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks and nobody watching at home believes any of the moderators has any intention of voting in a Republican primary.”

“Let the record reflect I asked you a question about the debt limit and I got no answer,” retorted moderator Carl Quintanilla.

“You’re not interested in an answer?” asked Cruz as the moderators cut him off and moved on to their next question.

This response did draw audience cheers

Cruz's broadside is by far the most notable-tough he got his comeuppance by not getting to answer the question-but this has been one characteristic of the candidates tonight. They often would decide they didn't like the question and answer a totally different one.

John Hardwood seems determined to not let this become the free fall the CNN debate was as he doesn't let too much interrupting go on. It might also be that they are up against the deadline that Trump and Carson imposed on the debate.

  1. Mike, your title doesn't match the body. You say Rubio in the title, but Cruz here:

"Now Ted Cruz chose not to answer another moderator's question;about the debt ceiling deal but instead launch into a bromide against the moderator's questions which he alleged are unfair to the Republicans. "

    1. Do you suppose Cruz had that all planned out, not matter what the question was? Lol

    2. Quite possibly now that you mention it. It certainly sounded like a performance piece.

He's famous for this. Though he did offer up specific examples of what happened tonight so he was at least somewhat ad hoc

  2. I'd love to put truth serum in the bottled water for one of these debates... it's be fun to see people blurt it all out with the internal sensor turned off.
