On Benghazi Investigator's Revelations, Trey Gowdy Employs the 'I Don't Know Him' Defense

The ironies are piling up on the ironies in they latest GOP chapter of McCarthyism.

One irony is that the man who blew their cover is also named McCarthy. Another is that the first two Benghazi ads have been from Hillary-one featuring another Kevin McCarthy who supports her.
Another irony is that the Benghazi Committee is supposed to be discovering government abuse and the only abuse is the BC itself. It claims that it wants transparency yet Trey Gowdy leaks cherrypicked information without the knowledge of the Democrats that gives a false impression of wrongdoing on the part of Hillary.

Yet Chairman Gowdy had promised no leaks. It's ironic that GOPers have tried to use Emailgate to question Hillary's honesty when we have Gowdy so many times totally contradicting himself like when he said he hasn't mentioned her since January.

He was just a little off there-he'd mentioned her 52 times-that were uncovered. Probably there were more.

Now the GOP can't decide how to dispute the claims of the Benghazi whistle blower. Some were claiming that he himself was on a witch hunt against Hillary. But now Gowdy is claiming he never met the man and doesn't know who he is.

It's getting confusing:

"Trey Gowdy (R-SC), the chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, reportedly said Sunday that he had never met Bradley Podliska, a man who said he was fired as an investigator, in part, for refusing to focus his investigation on Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, according to Fox."

"Podliska, who was an investigator on the committee for 10 months, told news outlets Saturday that he planned to file a federal lawsuit against the committee for wrongful termination."

"Gowdy said that he had never met him and never told him to focus his investigation on Clinton, according to Fox."

"Gowdy called Podliska's job performance "deficient," according to the report"

“Because I do not know him, and cannot recall ever speaking to him, I can say for certain he was never instructed by me to focus on Clinton, nor would he be a credible person to speak on my behalf,” Gowdy said, as quoted by Fox.

So we have three possible GOP explanations.

1. He was the one fixated on Hillary.

2. He was let go for being deficient

3. Trey Gowdy's is that he never met the man.

This is a party that can't even agree on its own Speaker so it's not surprising that there are 87,000 different explanations.
