Major Florida Newspaper: Marco Rubio Should Resign

You know it's just amazing. Jeb thinks having to beg for votes is beneath him, Rand Paul says campaigning makes him feel like he's 100 years old and John Kasich and Lindsay Graham wonder what the hell has happened to their party.

If you want to know what's happened to your party, think of it this way. You have all these candidates running for government jobs who absolutely loath government.

The story of Marco Rubio is he may be setting records for lack of attendance in the Senate.

"The editorial board of one of Florida's most prominent newspapers has a recommendation for Sen. Marco Rubio: just resign already."

"The editorial in the Florida Sun-Sentinel follows an interview the senator did with The Washington Post where he said he was "frustrated" with his chamber. The story also quoted a "longtime friend from Florida" who said "he hates it."

"Well, the Sun-Sentinel editorial board has had enough. The Wednesday editorial said that the 2016 presidential candidate "has missed more votes than any other senator this year. His seat is regularly empty for floor votes, committee meetings and intelligence briefings. He says he's MIA from his J-O-B because he finds it frustrating and wants to be president, instead."

"So, the editorial continued to Rubio, "If you hate your job, senator, follow the honorable lead of House Speaker John Boehner and resign it."

"Boehner announced in September that he would step down from his position. He has opted to remain as speaker until his successor is elected."

Not exactly a great resume for his new application as President of the United States. At the debate tonight, he and his fellow GOP candidates will no doubt be attacking the new budget deal in Congress.

He and the other two Senators, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz will boast of not supporting to fund the government and raising the debt ceiling-which would be a major hit to the economy.

Maybe that plays well with the primary voters but it's not clear how the Republican party can be taken seriously as a national party when it's own candidates have such contempt for the government they want to run.

So much for running joyfully. The GOP needs to find some candidates for government who doesn't see the entire process as beneath them.

The question that begs for Rubio is how is he going to do a better job leading the country than he did representing the people of Florida?
