Rubio on not Doing His Senate Job: No One Does Their Job

I told you the first debate was a snoozefest but this is already worth its weight in gold.

First after Kasich came in calling Carson and Trump nut job cranks to their faces, Trump came back on Kaisch and called him out as being just lucky in Ohio thanks to a fracking boom and also outed him as being on Lehman Brother's board back in 2008.

Now Rubio's answer to the question why he misses work so much at the Senate-after all a major Florida paper today called for him to resign or do his job.

Rubio just wouldn't answer John Harwood's fair question: does he not like his job in the Senate. He cataloged other people who allegedly missed lots of Senate time and this same paper loved.

But Jeb came out and nailed Rubio. For the first time on an issue in this campaign I am on Jeb's side! He pointed out that this same paper supported his Senate run in the past.

Trump is again right: Jeb and Rubio are two Florida politicians that hate each other.

The crowd seems to be Rubio partisans tonight though. The clapped at his answer that other Senators sit out a lot of votes why can't he?

And he came back on Jeb by pointing out that John McCain missed lots of days in the Senate as well and Jeb has been comparing himself to him; ie, Jeb is invoking McCain's 2008 comeback to argue he will also comeback.

The crowd clapped at this too. So this might be a sign that the establishment is now switching to Rubio.

At the last debate they were cheering Jeb.

Jeb just had another substantial answer that he wasn't saying he didn't want to run just that he will change Washington and there were crickets. The establishment audience seems to have moved on to Rubio.

UPDATE: Talking Points Memo also writes about Triump's diss of Kasich.
