Trying to Make the GOP House Seem Reasonable is Like Trying to Put Lipstick on a Pig

There is a deep Beltway media prejudice that says they have to be 'bipartisan' in their criticism. They should be criticizing the Dems and Repubs roughly equally or that is biased coverage.

In theory that would be true: if the two parties were truly both accurate and fair about 50% of the time. But as this is not the case mostly the media is unfair to Democrats.

Think about it. Imagine you're a teacher with two students called Bully and Victim. If you try to get the Bully from beating up the victim everyday and taking his lunch money by sternly reprimanding both equally to Just get along and stop fighting! whose side are you really taking?

If a politician declares that the Holocaust never happened or maybe it did but it wasn't that bad do you cover him the same exact way you do the politician that that calls this perverse nonsense?

Often the media answer seems to be yes.

UPDATE: The latest Holocaust denial politician is Ben Carson who's claim that it could have been avoided if the Jews had guns is a denial of all kinds of things, first of which is reality.

Even now it seems there is some resistance  to call a spade a spade: the GOP is a clown car-not just its presidential primary but its House. Bruce Bartlett wondered if the new nadir of absurdity in the House where they simply can't even elect their own Speaker would finally get the press to face reality. To stop putting lipstick on the pig.

"Will latest wanker stupidity finally convince mainstream media to stop taking them seriously, treat them like the fools that they are?"

But some still want to take them seriously. They think admitting it's a joke demeans our democracy. I think it's the opposite. Denying it's a joke demeans it.

Meanwhile the Federalist thinks the House is finally democratic.
