With Approach of Another GOP Debate, Establishment Wonders What Happened to Party

Jeb wanted to campaign joyfully but no one in the GOP establishment has managed to do anything like this. After Jeb's own peevish comments on Saturday-he has all these cool things he could be doing rather than degrading himself so-his family staged an intervention.

Today another establishment guy-Ohio Governor John Kasich-lost it. He has had it with these people. What has happened to our party? Kasich  wonders. It's the question everyone is asking these days.

Lindsay Graham can't figure out how he's losing to a guy who says he stabbed someone when he was 14-Ben Carson.

"Republican presidential candidate Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said Monday that he couldn't believe he was losing to GOP rival Dr. Ben Carson, who, as Graham put it, once "tried to kill someone."

"Carson said Sunday that he was once, "very volatile" and shared a personal anecdote from his past."

"As a teenager, I would go after people with rocks, and bricks, and baseball bats, and hammers,” Carson said. “Of course, many people know the story when I was 14 and I tried to stab someone.”

"Carson and fellow candidate Donald Trump have led in recent polls, a phenomenon that Graham responded to Monday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

"Graham has consistently polled near the bottom among Republican nominee hopefuls."

"On our side, you've got the No. 2 guy tried to kill someone at 14 and the No. 1 guy is high energy and crazy as hell," Graham said. "How am I losing to these people? Just look at Donald Trump's foreign policy. What is it? What's he going to do about ISIL? What is it? What is it? What is his game plan to destroy ISIL? Does anybody know?"

What I don know is that when you ask what is wrong with the Republican party these days you have to start with the understanding that it's: no longer a party. It's just an unwieldy bunch of warring factions.
