This is Jeff Sessions response to the latest Trump 'joke.' Like when he joked about Putin hacking Hillary's emails or that she should be 'locked up' now he's joking about her assassination.
Jeff Sessions won’t defend Trump: "You absolutely shouldn’t joke about [killing Clinton]. It’s contrary to everything we believe in.” — @CNN

Toughest job in America: being on Trump's rapid response team.
"Donald Trump’s rapid response team on Tuesday tried to walk back the candidate’s suggestion that Second Amendment enthusiasts could stop Hillary Clinton, remarks interpreted widely as the GOP nominee joking about an assassination."
“It’s called the power of unification,” Jason Miller, campaign spokesman, said in an email sent by the rapid response team. “2nd Amendment people have amazing spirit and are tremendously unified, which gives them great political power. And this year, they will be voting in record numbers, and it won’t be for Hillary Clinton, it will be for Donald Trump.”
"Trump, minutes earlier at a rally, said: “Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the Second Amendment…By the way, and if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know. But I’ll tell you what, that will be a horrible day.”

It's pretty hard to pass this off as a joke when you remember what the Trump delegate said. And I saw him answer questions at the RNC and he was dead serious.
"Shortly after Donald Trump suggested “Second Amendment people” could stop Hillary Clinton from nominating Supreme Court justices, his campaign feverishly insisted he was in no way urging violence against the Democratic nominee."
"This would be a lot more convincing if the campaign didn’t still count as an adviser an individual who has actually called for Clinton to be executed."
"In the midst of the Republican National Convention, Al Baldasaro, a New Hampshire state representative who advises Trump on veterans affairs, told a local radio show that Clinton deserved to face a firing squad for her handling of the consulate attack in Benghazi and her use of a private email server.
“She is a disgrace for the lies that she told those mothers about their children that got killed over there in Benghazi. She dropped the ball on over 400 emails requesting back-up security. Something’s wrong there,” he said. “Hillary Clinton should be put in the firing line and shot for treason.”
"Not unreasonably, Baldasaro’s comment didn’t sit very well with Secret Service, which said it would investigate. It also spooked a lot of political observers, who noted that the GOP convention floor had morphed into “lock-her-up” chorus line the night before."
"But the Trump campaign didn’t seem bothered. Baldasaro wasn’t dismissed from his post. In fact, Trump gave him a shoutout during a rally on Saturday."
"So while the Trump campaign now bends over backwards to clarify that the candidate wasn’t actually suggesting that Clinton be physically harmed, it continues to elevate someone who did just that, and who did so unapologetically."
