Paul Waldman makes the point that it's not that Dems don't have unity. What's going on in Philly is an attack on the party from without.

I think Bernie is trying to do the right thing personally. Though you can argue that he raised the level of anger at DWS and the DNC beyond what is reality.

Trump won't get anything done? And some think these are just preteens.
He will have the GOP House. Maybe there are some things the GOP Congress might feel are too far-sounds fine to have this up to Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell.
Surely they are the voices of reason on how far to take a ban of Muslims or how many immigrants to deport.
What they will happily work with him on? Abolishing Obamacare, cutting $12 trillion in taxes for the rich, ending the federal minimum wage.
As for what Trump wants to do to Nato, he's already started. Just saying this already emboldens Putin.

Bernie is doing the right thing NOW (after irresponsibly bringing this to a boil LONG past when his ticket was up). However, he owes it to civilization to kick it up a notch, and really try to inject a bit of reality into the thick skulls of the fantasy-world dwelling Bernie cultists.

Bernie should precede his speech by letting his supporters boo him when he emphatically says "I AM not going to be the Democratic nominee and I can't emphasize how desperately important it is that Trump **NOT** be president of the united states. At this point the Democratic primary voters have spoken and I won't be the one to carry the fight to Trump on the Democratic ticket. Because I'm a responsible person and I love my country and the existence of the human race itself I will do everything in my power to ensure that Trump does not win, and I expect all of my supporters to support me in that!!
