Bernie Goes Full False Equivalence Circa Germany 1932

Bernie is desperate and just trying to throw some wild bombs that will somehow magically make up for the fact that he trails by 3 million votes and this race ends Tuesday night.

"Hillary Clinton has bathed in accolades from Democrats for her scathing speech against Trump’s foreign policy credentials. But in an interview aired Sunday, her rival for the Democratic nomination Bernie Sanders suggested that Clinton’s own foreign policy judgment raises similar concerns."

“I think frankly they both make a point,” he said in an interview aired Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” about the back-and-forth sniping between Trump and Clinton over foreign policy judgment — and who is more likely to get the United States entangled in a new war."

“I think that her support for the war in Iraq was not just an aberration,” he said. “I think that her willingness to push President Obama to overthrow [Libya's Muammar] Qadhafi and lead to the kind of instability we’re seeing now in Libya, not inconsistent with her views on Syria, where she wants a no-fly zone.”

“Bush’s era, Clinton’s era has caused us incalculable harm,” he added

This is what the Stalinists were saying in 1932: that Hitler was very bad but so were the Social Democrats. You know, a pox on both houses.

It's amazing that Bernie would want to give Trump any credit at this late date.

Bernie leaves out that he also supported the Libya action, but then his memory is always pretty selective.

As Hillary rightly says, he needs to unify with the party post Tuesday night.

"Bernie Sanders should end his campaign and begin convincing supporters to line up behind Hillary Clinton as the presumptive Democratic nominee, Clinton said in an interview that aired Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

"Clinton said that in 2008, some supporters urged her to battle Barack Obama to the convention but noted that she decided to cede to Obama rather than fight because they shared similar policy goals and values. When this year’s primary season largely ends Tuesday, she said, “I expect Senator Sanders to do the same.”

"That would enable the party, she added, “to go to the convention in a unified way.”

"In a separate interview on ABC’s “This Week,” Clinton added, “I think given where we are in this race, that I will have not only more than a three million vote margin, but I will have a significant majority of pledged delegates by the close of voting on Tuesday.”

"Sanders, though, has given no indication he intends to clear Clinton’s path this week. He told CNN in a corresponding interview that the world could change dramatically before the Democratic National Convention."

“That’s a long time from today,” he said, though he added that if he ultimately loses, he will work to ensure that Clinton defeats Trump in November.

It would change in what way? Would this somehow erase his 3 million vote deficit? Matt Yglesias is right. It will change but in a way which will make it impossible for Bernie to carry on.

Basically, nobody will be staying with him once the voting is over.

Yglesias also has this great line over a picture of a happy little boy next to his playpen.

"This happy Bernie Bro's parents don't have the heart to tell him about the US Virgin Islands results yet."
