Whether or not that's true, he did not support it in 1990 which led the NRA to support him over his GOP opponent who had suddenly found religion on gun control.
Earlier, Bernie had piously declared that it's too late for Hillary to find religion on being anti trade. In this he goes way too far in demonizing trade as the First Cause of all economic ills.

Well, it's better late than never. Bernie still hasn't found religion on gun control.
If the NRA gives him a D- with his record-voting 4 times against the Brady Bill, voting to shield gun manufacturers in 2005, making it harder for the FBI to keep track of unsavory gun dealers in 2007-it must be a very tough grader.
In truth at times he's had as high as a C.
