Glenn Beck Calls for John Kasich to Get Out

Beck obviously buys the theory that Trump can be best defeated in a two man race.

Conservative radio host and former Fox News personality Glenn Beck called for Republican presidential candidate Ohio Gov. John Kasich to drop out, warning Americans that "the Republic is at stake" if Donald Trump wins.

Beck said on his radio program that Kasich was "delusional" for staying in the race and that doing so was "arrogance."

"Beck has hit the campaign trail with Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in a move to prevent Trump from winning the nomination. Beck has said that Trump's campaign benefits from Kasich staying in the race, dividing voters who could be supporting Cruz."

"This guy is going to be remembered as a guy who possibly destroyed the Republic," Beck said. "Kasich, I mean, excuse my language, but, you son of a bitch, the Republic is at stake. This is not like a normal race. The Republic is at stake!"

Of course, you hear a lot of back and forth on the question. Some have argued the opposite. Remember the key for #NeverTrump is to stop Trump from winning 1237, not trying to help another candidate win.

And on a delegate basis Kasich has no chance and Cruz's chance to win is weak. While Cruz is trying to say he's the guy to beat Trump he had a terrible Tuesday and now trails him by 262 after trailing by under 100 before.

I guess it might come down to how much of Kasich's support would Trump vs. Cruz pick up if he left? I think you'd presume that Cruz would pick up most of it, but who knows.

It has to be said that since NH the field has whittle down to just three and this hasn't stopped Trump. Still, Kasich is largely running as the anti Trump.

  1. Chris Matthews played a clip of Beck saying that to Kasich. I was glad to see Kasich dismiss it, and all similar pleas for him to quit.

I know you don't care to much if it's Trump or Cruz, but I think Trump will do much more damage to the GOP, particularly down ballot. The better the Dems do in the Senate, the more Hillary will be able to pack the court. Ideal situation: Hillary wins in a landslide and the Dems take the Senate. The next day before Mitch McConnell has a chance to do shit, Obama's nominee withdraws his nomination... Meanwhile McConnell makes a speech blaming Obama for making him look like a dimwit ass once again.
