The GOP Primary: as Neanderthal as I Want to Be

Just when you thought the Trump-Cruz fight couldn't fall any further into the gutter-after the Cruz supporting Super PAC put at the GQ pictures of Trump's wife, Melania and Trump hitting back at Cruz by suggesting he had dirt on his wife, Heidi.

Then we had some very amusing videos of Cruz declaring himself piping mad over what Trump had done-though he stole Michael Douglas' lines.

Now we're on to the next level:

"Ted Cruz on Friday accused “Donald Trump and his henchmen” of planting the seeds behind a “garbage” National Enquirer report alleging that the Texas senator has had extramarital affairs."

“This National Enquirer story is garbage. It is complete and utter lies,” Cruz said after a campaign event in Osh Kosh, Wisconsin. “It is a tabloid smear, and it is a smear that has come from Donald Trump and his henchmen.”

"The National Enquirer published an article on Wednesday alleging that the Texas senator had five secret mistresses. While it did not identify the alleged mistresses by name, the article included headshots of five women that were pixelated with black bars over their eyes."

"Cruz followed up with a Facebook post, again dismissing the allegations and scolding Trump. "These smears are completely false, they’re offensive to Heidi and me, they’re offensive to our daughters, and they’re offensive to everyone Donald continues to personally attack," he said in the post. "Donald Trump’s consistently disgraceful behavior is beneath the office we are seeking and we are not going to follow."

"Trump, the Republican frontrunner, brought Cruz’s marriage to the forefront of his campaign this week when the New York billionaire on Tuesday suggested Tuesday he would “spill the beans” on Cruz’s wife, Heidi."

"Trump’s threat came in response to an anti-Trump super PAC ad unaffiliated with Cruz’s campaign that used a racy image of Trump’s wife, Melania, from British GQ."

“The questions that the people of America are asking is how low will Donald go,” Cruz said. “Is there any limit that he will not go? I believe his conduct in this campaign is convincing millions of Americans that this man would be an embarrassment as president, that we don’t want a president who traffics in sleaze and slime. We don’t want a president who attacks the family members of other candidates.”

"Roger Stone, a former Trump adviser, told the Enquirer that the accusations of affairs aren’t new but indicated they could have merit and damage the Cruz campaign, especially with evangelical voters. “These stories have been swirling about Cruz for some time,” Stone said, according to the report. “I believe where there is smoke there is fire. I have to believe this will hurt him with his evangelical Christian supporters.”

"During a panel discussion earlier on Friday on CNN, Trump supporter and Boston Herald columnist Adriana Cohen pivoted to the Enquirer story, targeting former Cruz communications director Amanda Carpenter, who was also live on the network."

“Where we should move to is the National Enquirer story that has reported that Ted Cruz has had affairs with five mistresses, including you’ve been named as well, Amanda,” Cohen said. “If we’re going to call Donald Trump’s character into question, I would like Ted Cruz to issue a statement whether or not the National Enquirer story is true, that he has had affairs with many women, including you were named, Amanda. Will you denounce this story or will you confirm it?”

Wow. A fight of male Neanderthal candidates and also next a mudpit between a female Trump supporter and a former Cruz campaign director.

Just please don't anyone say they have hit bottom here and can't get any lower. With Trump-Cruz, that's what you might call 'congenitally impossible.'

Meanwhile Kaisch is in 'La-La Land' out 'howling at the moon.' He doesn't grasp reality as reality isn't his friend.

    1. It's about what that news article is about. It's a Quintin Tarantino flick... one of his best, in my estimation. I'm surprised you've never heard of it.

    2. My ranking of his flicks:

      1) Pulp Fiction (his 2nd film)
      2) Jackie Brown (his 3rd film)
      3) Reservoir Dogs (his 1st film)

The rest I'm so-so on (I confess I haven't seen his latest, "The Hateful Eight.")

  3. For me the Trump-Cruz cage match over the wives is more compelling. LOL

That's been my issue lately. Like I've always been a big football fan. But Trump actually made an interesting observation at the Super Bowl this year.

This year's SB was boring next to politics. LOL. I really haven't been watching sports in months-since the Giants were eliminated in late November.

Even House of Cards isn't as compelling after the rise of Trump
