Is Someone Going to be Killed at a Trump Rally?

More than a few disparate  pundits say yes.

Josh Marshall thinks 'someone is going to be killed.'

Some others have gotten more specific. Scott Adams, the Dilbert comic strip writer, has somehow become a kind of resident Trump whisperer, suggests that with the media continuing to equate Trump with Hitler, Trump, himself has a 25 percent chance of being assassinated before election day.

This is totally different than Marshall who thinks it will likely be someone in the crowd-probably not Trump.

That is a jarring prediction as 25 percent is very high.

Breitbart also thinks the media is trying to set Trump up for an assassination.

Adams argues that the media is urging someone to kill Donald Trump.

"Fast-forward to today and we see the media priming the public to try to kill Trump, or at least create some photogenic mayhem at a public event. Again, no one is sitting in a room plotting Trump’s death, but – let’s be honest – at least half of the media believes Trump is the next Hitler, and a Hitler assassination would be morally justified. Also great for ratings. The media would not be charged with any crime for triggering some nut to act. There would be no smoking gun. No guilt. No repercussions. Just better ratings and bonuses all around."

"In the 2D world of reason, no one in the media consciously wants a candidate for president to be injured, and no one is consciously acting in a way that would make it happen. But in the 3D world of persuasion, society has decided to lance the wart that is Trump. Collectively – the media, the public, and the other candidates – are creating a situation that is deeply dangerous for Trump."

You know it's funny. I just saw a new movie at the Loew's Movie Theater in Levitown Long Island-"The Brothers Grimsley"-Sacha Baron Cohen's movie

In it there is some kind of new poison drug that gives victims AIDs. At the end of the movie there was a joke about how Donald Trump got sprayed at a soccer match in South America and got AIDs.
I do think the suggestion is clear. A lot of people really fear Trump-Ezra Klein and Matt Yglesias have written a lot about their fear of Trump.
I do think you could argue this is kind of a cultural wish. A lot of people would be kind of relieved if something happened to him.
Not me, of course. I want him healthy at least in time to win the GOP primary and face off against Hillary next November.
After she beats him, I'm indifferent to what happens to him.
So I don't want to see anything happen to him, at least physically.
But I'll buy that a lot of people do.
