As Politico puts it, tonight is Rubio's swan song.
"Marco’s last stand."
"On Thursday night’s debate stage, the Florida senator must slow Trump’s momentum going into the Florida primary."

How the hell is he going to do that? I mean if talking about Trump's little hands and a bad spray tan didn't slow him what will? That freak show actually correlated with Rubio's numbers falling off a cliff.
"Things are looking especially dire for Rubio. His campaign has endured relentless questions about whether he’ll drop out before Tuesday, despite Rubio’s fierce denials, and every recent Florida poll has shown him badly trailing Trump."
"And on Wednesday the candidate himself copped to regret about his own recent role in the deteriorating tone of the 2016 race. Ahead of the March 1 contests, Rubio assumed Trump’s signature style, launching personal insults that ranged from hitting the Manhattan businessman on everything from his spray tan to the size of his hands."

Anyway, so far tonight, Rubio hasn't hit Trump yet, but instead is just being his usual robotic self reciting his boring canned lines.
He got very indignant about the idea of his mother having her SS benefits screwed with, but is all for us youngins to see ours cut. He euphemistically said that 'SS will just have to work differently for those my age.'
By differently, he means worse. Basically a benefit cut. Raise the retirement to 70.
Is this the way he comes back? Trump didn't get to the top of the GOP polls by promising to cut SS benefits and raise the retirement age.

Predictably, Trump responded by coming out against cuts or raising the age. He pointed out that Dems want to expand it.
In this way he leaves himself as the mean between to extremes:
1. Little Marco who doesn't want to cut his mom's but does want to cut those of us his own age. This is the same ploy that Paul Ryan used-'Don't worry. We won't cut your benefits as long as you're over 55' as if no one under 55 votes.
2. The Dems who want to expand it.
