Politico Keeps Up it's Relentless anti Hillary Coverage

Over two months ago, Heather Digby talked about how Politico became a GOP stooge-or at least a stooge for their anti Hillary oppo research with absolute credulity.

"As it happens, another political reporter wrote a piece about the way the press covers Hillary Clinton yesterday and it was quite a blockbuster confessional. Jonathan Allen of Vox laid it all out:"

"The Clinton rules are driven by reporters’ and editors’ desire to score the ultimate prize in contemporary journalism: the scoop that brings down Hillary Clinton and her family’s political empire. At least in that way, Republicans and the media have a common interest."

"I understand these dynamics well, having co-written a book that demonstrated how Bill and Hillary Clinton used Hillary’s time at State to build the family political operation and set up for their fourth presidential campaign. That is to say, I’ve done a lot of research about the Clintons’ relationship with the media, and experienced it firsthand. As an author, I felt that I owed it to myself and the reader to report, investigate, and write with the same mix of curiosity, skepticism, rigor, and compassion that I would use with any other subject. I wanted to sell books, of course. But the easier way to do that — proven over time — is to write as though the Clintons are the purest form of evil. The same holds for daily reporting. Want to drive traffic to a website? Write something nasty about a Clinton, particularly Hillary."

"As a reporter, I get sucked into playing by the Clinton rules. This is what I’ve seen in my colleagues, and in myself."

"This does not come as a surprise to many observers. It’s been obvious for more than 20 years. But it’s refreshing to see a journalist admit that the dynamic is driven by the media’s Ahab-like obsession with bringing down Hillary Clinton — and that this means they have a common interest with Republicans. It’s not ideological, it’s professional."

It's not ideological, it's professional. This is a very good was to explain something I've tried to explain. The Beltway press as a whole may not be conservative Republican-though William Safire at the Times in the 90s was a major reason for the paper''s anti Clinton obsession-but their professional agenda buttresses with the GOP's ideological agenda to form an unholy alliance.

Digby also points out something I've always thought: Republican partisans must laugh at the utter credulity of the Beltway press for any negative Hillary story.

Today Bloomberg has an avalanche of negative Hillary stories on it's top front page. The very top front page story reads:

"Email woes, Sanders surge rattle Clinton's Hill backers."

This is part of the GOP strategy to destroy Hillary's campaign. To demoralize Hillary supporters. A headline like that of course demoralizes her supporters even if they weren't already.
David Brock has argued that Democrats can't give in to the panic and the bedwetting but to the extent that the quotes of 'Hillary backers' that the Beltway press are always able to cull are at all accurate this message is not being taken to heart.

Politico is really working hard today. As if this piece isn't enough it another piece blares that Biden Surges in New Poll
"Vice President Joe Biden surged in a new national Bloomberg Politics poll of Democratic voters and independent voters leaning toward the Democratic Party released Wednesday morning, even though he has not announced his intentions for the presidency.

Hillary Clinton earned a plurality of 33 percent, followed by Biden at 25 percent and independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders at 24 percent. Other candidates are polling within the margin of error."

Before any Hillary supporters start bedwetting over this I'd caution them not to take this poll too seriously. For once thing, it is a real outlier compared with what other recent polls have shown. Real Clear Politics has shown her with a decisive lead close to 20 points. .

If this Bloomberg poll is to be believed, what has happened is not that Bernie has had a further surge-he has seemed to level out in the low 20s nationally, but that Biden somehow has taken a lot more of Hillary's support than in any other poll.
We'll have to check its methodology but off the bat it's an outlier and until other polls show this you can take it with a grain of salt.
Then another headline beneath the other two-from yesterday but Politico loves it so much they are leaving it near the top-blares how more Benghazi emails have been discovered in probe.

This openended probe that has gone on longer than Watergate, 9/11, or the Kennedy killing. After all, none of those probes would help the GOP win the next election.
Of course, Politico doesn't worry about what a time waster this probe has been and that it's become just a fishing expedition for any dirt Hillary that can hurt her in the campaign.
Of course not as this has nothing to do with the Beltway narrative of Hillary doing something wrong even if it's just bad judgement-which somehow makes another Bush preferable to her as our next President.
Finally, beneath all the Hillary bashing headlines they mention her postioin on Keystone.

They couldn't allow issues to be the story rather than their pointless Beltway narrative.
