A Bernie fan finally admits: they are cool using the tactics of Citizen's United to bring down Hillary. After all, Emailgate is the product of CI and similar Right wing legal organizations. They know that right?
Do they know that? Yet hear they are saying she can't win because she's being investigated by the FBI-which is as false as what Carly Fiorina said about Planned Parenthood on Wednesday night.
This is why I say they're overreacting about that Super Pac attack. Why is Bernie above criticism?
http://lastmenandovermen.blogspot.com/2015/09/on-bernie-maniacs-breastbeating-over.html
What they seem to miss is that Bernie has gotten a free lunch. Think about it.
Political scientists tell us the importance of media coverage during primary season.
http://www.amazon.com/Gamble-Choice-Chance-Presidential-Election/dp/0691163634/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1442679377&sr=8-2&keywords=john+sides
And every single day of the campaign the media has been very negative about Hillary while there have been zero negative news stories about Bernie.
It's all about the narrative with the media and the narrative is that Hillary is a weak candidate who's in trouble partly because of her emails-government officials at all levels have sued private emails but it's not a big deal usually as the narrative is about Hillary not these other officials.
Everyone knew about her emails back in 2011 and this didn't stop the media from giving President Obama the 'advice' that he should drop Biden as VP for Hillary.
http://lastmenandovermen.blogspot.com/2015/09/remember-when-media-wanted-obama-to.html
But then the media narrative was different. It was about rebuking Obama through Biden then. Now it's about rebuking Hillary by talking about Biden all the time.
This is how the media works. There is always the dominant narrative that almost everyone in the mainstrema press picks up with usually a few notable exceptions.
http://lastmenandovermen.blogspot.com/2015/09/the-lies-of-carly-fiorina_18.html
Indeed, what's interesting in that above link is I talked about a Talking Points piece that argues that there are always a few high profile media folks that are a little more independent and buck the dominant narrative.
But these are outliers. Even now, it's widely understood that Carly Fiorina's allegedly masterful debate performance was based in lies. Though she is claimed to have bullied the bully-Trump-on substance he actually did connect on his critique of her time at H-P.
On the other hand her wild-eyed slanders of Planned Parenthood is based upon her basically making up a video that doesn't exist as there is no video of a fetus being kept alive to suck its brain.
But this fact doesn't comport with the current media narrative-although it may in the future. If her and Jeb in March and April are the only two candidates standing I would not be at all surprised to see the media suddenly noticing that she came across as more or less a pathological liar in her alleged victorious debate.
The narrative on Hillary for the primary session at least thus far has been relentlessly negative. It's not just that virtually all her coverage has been negative-it's not just what they are saying about her.
It's also what they are not saying about her and that's anything even remotely nice or positive. Her strong policy positions on ending college debt, ending mass incarceration of black men, ending voter suppression and raising wages in the uber economy have simply been ignored.
The media simply refused to allow this to get through and take hold in any meaningful way.
While Bernie is famous for taking a very pious attitude where no kind of jokes or personalities are allowed to have any part in his campaign he's so serious, the media has made it their business to ignore totally the serious things she has said.
Like on MSNBC not every pundit is the same. Some are more blatantly anti Hillary and rip into her over the emails-Morning Joe especially, but also Lawrence O'Donnell. However, Chris Mathews has basically said the whole email thing is overblown.
But then he says that nevertheless for some reason the press just has it out for her-the subtext being she may just be a hopeless candidate.
Then he switches gears and talks about Biden's nonexistent campaign.
Rachel Maddow doesn't go on about the emails too much but when there is a new story that starts all the breastbeating over her emails all over again. Rachel usually just repeats the story that by her 9 pm slot has been regurgitated 100 times during the day.
She doesn't join in the email bashing but she doesn't question the narrative at all even to explain it.
Then she speculates over Biden and interviews Bernie yet again.
http://lastmenandovermen.blogspot.com/2015/09/rachael-maddow-makes-bernie-some-milk.html
Chris Hayes lately has been the one who has explicitly pushed back the most on Emailgate. But while he was one of the few to report the DOJ telling a judge she did nothing wrong not just in keeping the private server but in choosing which ones to destroy.
But then he adds that 'Ok that ends one part of the story. But we still have to see if she had any classified emails.'
Which begs the question: if she is innocent of any wrongdoing what is the basis for rifling through every email she ever received? Where is probable cause?
So even as a relative Emailgate critic, Hayes is not ready to simply dismiss the entire phony scandal. Even if she's done nothing wrong we still have to keep fishing in case we find something later.
Kind of like how Whitewater worked.
Melissa Harris-Perry's method of Hillary bashing was to claim that there's no big deal for a woman to win President-if she's white.
http://lastmenandovermen.blogspot.com/2015/09/melissa-harris-perry-and-could-it-be.html
And this is the allegedly liberal network. So the entire campaign there have been only three stories about her the media has been interested in reporting.
1. Emailgate
2. Relentless speculation about Biden running but no facts supporting that this is in any way likely. This morning CNN reported that 'Biden people' say that it's now no longer a question of if he will run but when.
But there are no details or names so it remains at the level of rumors. And yesterday there was a Politico piece that suggested that Biden no longer sees October 1 or any time close as the date he has to do it or get off the pot. Evidently his people are now saying he can jump in whenever he wants-maybe even next spring.
http://lastmenandovermen.blogspot.com/2015/09/does-biden-plan-to-play-footsie-with.html
3. Endless hand wringing over polls that show Bernie surging. Bernie has surged in NH and Iowa. He still trails by about 20 points in most national polls-and without the pollster's insistence in including Biden's fake candidacy in very poll her lead is back to 30
http://lastmenandovermen.blogspot.com/2015/09/hillary-leads-bernie-42-24-nationally.html
In a way you could argue that by always insisting on treating Biden like a candidate even though he's not the media is trying to create a self-fulfilling prophecy by consistently under-reporting her true numbers.
And any poll that can be spun as bad news for Hillary is recycled again and again as if it's new. Like that same poll that has been out for a week that shows him with a 43-36 lead in NH was again announced on CNN this morning as if for the first time.
This is hardly news as polls for the last month have shown Bernie ahead. But what's more they have all included Biden. Without Biden she actually leads in this poll 43-39.
So for Bernie's fans to be so sanctimonious about how he doesn't launch personal attacks and doesn't use Super Pacs and at the same time using a phony scandal dreamed up by Citizen's United is pretty hypocritical.
The fact is she has been attacked every day for 5 months. The fact that these attacks haven't been by Bernie only increases their effectiveness as he can claim innocence. But for Bernie fans to blatantly cheerlead Emailgate shows the phoniness of this narrative.
It just shows that they think Bernie is so pure he's above criticism-butter wouldn't melt in his mouth.
Do they know that? Yet hear they are saying she can't win because she's being investigated by the FBI-which is as false as what Carly Fiorina said about Planned Parenthood on Wednesday night.
"Ultimately, voters will need to answer two questions on Election Day, regardless of whether or not they believe in conspiracy theories. Will Democrats elect Hillary Clinton and move the Democratic Party towards a conservative direction on foreign policy and war?"
"Or, will Democrats nominate Bernie Sanders, a man who just surpassed Clinton inIowa and New Hampshire without the help of a Super PAC? In reality, Bernie Sanders is the most electable and honest candidate Democrats have in 2016, which is why he will win the nomination and can easily beat any GOP candidate. After all, you can't win the presidency with the FBI as a running mate and money can't buy a voter's trust."
