Wall St. Executives 'Increasingly Terrified' That Trump Could Win GOP Nomination

Whereas I increasingly love it that he could-or least force a split convention.

"Politico’s Ben White talks to a number of Wall Street executives and discovers that they are growing “increasingly terrified” that Donald Trump “could actually win the Republican nomination for president.”

"Trump has vowed to raise taxes on capital gains, claiming that executive pay in America is a “complete joke.” One senior figure on Wall Street tells Politico that investors who discussed Trump at a recent lunch were “taking him very seriously,” adding: “He taps into frustrations that are very real and he is a master manipulator of the media.”

As Sargent suggests part of Trump's appeal is that he's a billionaire-so as an insider he would know.

"But Trump’s suggestion that his rivals will “let” Wall Streeters get away with paying too little in taxes threatens to let Republican voters in on the joke. Ross Douthat has suggested that as a billionaire, Trump could actually be more credible in this regard, since he is letting you in on the secret, from the inside, that “high finance can afford higher taxes.” And guess what, Trump seems to be saying, it won’t destroy the economy or cost your bartender father his job. Trump has been in on the joke for a long time, and the joke’s on you. But the joke is over."

Just like Trump has killed the GOP joke on immigration. Far from an outlier, Trump's proposal to deport 11 million undocumented immigrants has been the implicit policy of the GOP all along.

Now he is spilling the beans on taxes after Jeb's appalling tax proposal that is just like his brother's on steroids.

He has previously called out his GOP competitors for wanting to end Social Security and Medicare.

This is once again: why I am a Trump Democrat.

In other Trump news, the media is hyping a Trump-Fioriona confrontation at the debate Wednesday night.

"The New York Times reports that Republicans expect a massive confrontation between Donald Trump and rival Carly Fiorina at tomorrow’s GOP debate. Trump vows to refrain from criticizing her looks, as he had previously done:

"Mr. Trump said he was preparing to criticize the record — and not the appearance — of Mrs. Fiorina, who was fired as the chief executive of Hewlett-Packard and, like Mr. Trump, has never held elected office. “I want to talk about her corporate history, her failures at Hewlett-Packard,” Mr. Trump said. “And that will be damaging enough to her.”

"Of course, Trump isn’t exactly a paragon of self control, and he may slip up. After all, it isn’t as if his previous barrage of insults directed at women (or immigrants, or any other group) has damaged his standing among GOP voters."

Can I say that I find this whole Beltway meme of breastbeating over Trump's 'sexism' pretty disingenuous?

First of all Trump has not actually insulted women as such-though he unquestionably has insulted Latino immigrants.

Ok, he has attacked some individual women on looks any maybe you can read that as a generalized attack on women.

I agree, attacks on women's looks are beneath the belt and not something I personally or most decent people engage in.

Maybe you could argue that to attack individual women on looks is a sort of 'interpersonal sexism'-I would agree with that.

But this is chickenfeed compared with the institutional sexism of the rest of the GOP who want to shutdown the government to defund Planned Parenthood-even Trump realizes that PP does a lot more than just perform abortions.

Then you have the positions of Jeb and Marco Rubio-both who oppose abortion even in cases of rape and incest-and Scott Walker who agrees with them though he takes it a step further and doesn't even exempt the life of the mother.

Then you have Mike Huckabee who opposes an abortion for an 11 year old rape victim.

Next to this the media's laser like focus on Trump's insulting Fiorina-who herself is on the record for putting down other women''s looks-seems less like a feminist defense than a another Beltway meaningless diversion.

On actual issues-rather than Fiorina's face-Trump is actually superior on women's issues.
