It's what I called in an earlier post, the media's genius for selective amnesia.
"This amnesia on the part of the media is almost a thing of genius. In 2011 they were razzing Obama over Biden and telling him that he should drop Biden for Hillary for the 2012 election."

"Back then Biden was the 'gaffe machine' and Hillary was the great stateswoman. Now things are 180 which tells you first and foremost that the media is by definition always full of crap. If you are a Democrat running for President simply ignore these boo-birds as they just don't know what they're talking about."
"What the media is really all about is two things:
1. A narrative that once it's decided on is repeated again and again due to the media's inherent
2. Pack mentality."

That explains the Hillary coverage then. Their narrative today is that she's a candidate in trouble and may just be a bad candidate for President-after all she blew it in 2008, right?
In 2011 though she was running for nothing while the President was running for re-election so then the narrative was meant to mess not with her but President Obama. At that time then the media narrative been repeated by the media echo chamber was that Biden is a 'gaffe machine' that could lose Obama the election.
As usual the media noise got to bad the President had to directly deny he was thinking of dumping Biden.

The media of course was wrong then and wrong now.
1. Dropping Biden would have been a big mistake as there was nothing wrong with him-as now the media seems to wholeheartedly agree-and dropping him would have suggested that Obama's entire first term was a mistake.
2. Looking to Biden now would be a similar mistake as it would show the Democrats panicking and that 'Hillary is in trouble.'
Then as now the answer is to tell the Beltway press to go play in traffic.
