I Just Voted for Hillary Clinton and it Was Everything I Thought it Would be-and More!

I am pretty ecstatic I must admit. I talked about how I couldn't wait to do it, this morning. It is now done.

Really, I kind of got to vote for her six times, as there were five Hillary delegates-as opposed to Bernie delegates I also voted for. How sweet it is.

It doesn't sound like Bernie did so well today. If you lose, you whine about the process, and Bernie is doing a lot of whining.

"It’s wrong that independents are unable to vote in New York’s primary, Bernie Sanders said Tuesday."

“I’m trying to do everything I can to get my vote casted for him,” a male supporter told reporters in New York while gesturing toward Sanders. “I can sign a court order and an affidavit and whatever I need to do, and I’m going to do that, but it shouldn’t be this hard to vote.”

“No, it should not be,” Sanders replied. “Today, 3 million people in the state of New York who are independents have lost their right to vote in the Democratic or Republican primary. That’s wrong.”

"According to voter enrollment data from the New York State Board of Elections, more than 3 million voters are registered outside of the Republican and Democratic parties, barring them from voting in the state’s closed primary."

“You’re paying for this election. It’s administered by the state,” Sanders told the supporter. “You have a right to vote. And that’s a very unfortunate thing, which I hope will change in the future. Thanks so much for your support.”

How is it 'wrong?' Where is it written that the Democratic primary must be decided by those who aren't Democrats? Some primaries allow independents, some don't. Bernie agreed to these rules-he didn't complain before the primary.
And I think there is a good case to be made that we don't want independents deciding our primaries.

Listen to this analysis of independents by FiveThirtyEight. It's just as I had thought:

"So why is Sanders doing so well among independents? It appears to be driven not by their ideology so much as their dislike of partisan politics. And that has implications for Sanders’s prospects in the upcoming primaries in New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Maryland, all of which are closed to non-Democrats. Understanding why Sanders does so well among independents in the Democratic primaries can also give us hints about his appeal to moderate voters should he make it to the general election."

It's not so much that they are ideological, but that they are nonpartisan. Well, guess what? Politics is partisan. Get over it. If you want, start a nonpartisan party-to talk about a total contradiction in terms.

Another hint Bernie doesn't expect to do well tonight? He's in Pennsylvania tonight.

Charlie Rangel:

"With all due respect to Bernie Sanders, nobody can think — of all of the years he's been in the House and Senate — what he's ever done ... legislatively," Rangel said.

"Rangel, who introduced Clinton at a campaign event Sunday in his home state of New York, also weighed in on video of Sanders supporters throwing a thousand $1 bills at Clinton's motorcade over the weekend as she arrived at actor George Clooney's house in Los Angeles for a high-dollar fundraising event."

"Isn't that stupid?" Rangel asked. "I think it's stupid. I think that they have money to throw away, literally, and that it's not changing anything."

"Rangel then suggested that Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist, "collect that money" to support efforts to elect Democrats."

"Maybe if he tried to get some Democrats — instead of socialist Democrats — elected, maybe it would help him and the country and the Democratic Party," Rangel said.

"If he thinks that he is going to become president, he ought to have more than one person in the Senate endorsing him," Rangel added.

Man, am I going to miss Charlie Rangel. It's been a wish for the Congressman to see Hilary be POTUS before he retired, and it looks like his wish and mine is becoming more likely by the day.
