Hillary Clinton Leads Bernie Sanders in Indiana, 48-45

If this is in anyway accurate, it's more mud in the eye of Berners as this is a state he has to win-not that it makes much difference at this point. He's' not going to win. But for him to even remotely claim that there is this imagined path to victory he can he lose Indiana?

With 83 delegates, this is the biggest state remaining he has a shot at winning-not that wins mean much at this time. He has no path to victory.

Benchmark Politics thinks she has a shot at winning Indiana.

"Offhand I think she stands a shot in IN and KY. WV and OR are Bernie's."

Oregon is worth 61 delegates. Benchmark Politics-whose projections have been very reliable right now has her with a clean sweep in next Tuesday's five states-she even wins Rhode Island, 53-47.

In truth the primary is over as Dem insiders remind Bernie.

As for today's comment by a man in Conneticut, I guess you can see it both ways.

"Man in Hartford to Clinton: "You are very human. I don't care what they say but you are very human! Good luck!" Gets a standing O.

Some women on Twitter didn't like this and took it as an insult-is it really a revelation that women are human?

But the glass half full is that in seeing her, this man realized that the media narrative on Hillary is a lie. The Beltway certainly deserves scorn for perpetuating this myth

  1. I feel much better knowing you're on top of everything, worrying about it properly. =)

BTW, I don't know if you covered this in a post or not, but did you end up voting in the Republican or the Democratic primaries? I'd guess Democratic. I'm not even sure if it's an open primary there.

    1. Of course I voted for Hillary Clinton. I want Trump to win the GOP but my first priority is HRC winning the Dems. Trump needed no help anyway.

I wrote about my joy in voting for her here.

NY is a very closed state which has led to all kinds of complains from the Berners.

  2. Now that I've emerged from my circuit simulation chrysalis, I'm taking a look around at all the stuff I've been ignoring. My free views have run out this month, but the title of this one sounds like Jennifer Rubin is starting to come around to seeing the positive side of Clinton (to her that means the most Israel friendly politician in the room I think):

    1. Yes, but, I almost wish Rubin could cool it with this praise of Hillary's pro Israel stance at least until after HRC's nomination is official. LOL.

It looks like HRC has this now, but, on general principal her pro Israel stance is something I'd rather not showcase until she's safely in the general as in a Democratic primary it's a bit of a mixed bag. LOL

Now, in the general, I welcome any Paens Ms. Rubin wants to write!

  3. When I read this by Rubin:

"Now, no one could seriously argue that Clinton won because of her Israel views, although 59 percent of Democratic voters thought she would be the better commander in chief compared with only 38 percent for Sanders. It, however, is equally true that a fierce, reasoned defense of Israel is not a liability for a Democrat, even in a liberal bastion such as New York. In the general election, her stance will aid the defense of her own foreign-policy record and win over some independent and Republican pro-Israel voters who abhorred President Obama’s anti-Israel tilt."

My thought is 'Save it for the general, woman!' If anything, a pro Israel stance is probably better in NY than some other places as we do have so many Jews here.

  4. But Rubin begs the question here:

"Aside from the politics of the presidential race, the potential for a pro-Israel Democrat president who was outspoken in differentiating herself from Obama would be hugely significant. Rather than deepen the trend of Democratic antipathy toward Israel — and the corresponding development of Israel as a partisan issue in which only Republicans reliably provided defense of the Jewish state — the almost extinguished hope for a return to bipartisan support for Israel could become a reality. Advocates of a strong U.S.-Israel relationship and an effective U.S. presence in the Middle East can breathe a little easier knowing things will in all likelihood improve regardless of who wins the White House."

So she thinks a President Trump would improve relations with Israel? Remember when Trump told the Republican Jewish group that he knew they wouldn't endorse him because he can't be bought, he's a tough negotiator like they are?

And Trump did for a moment at least suggest more US neutrality between Israel and the Palestinians.

    1. I don't think she means Trump. She's not a fan in any respect, even concerning his attitude on Israel (last I checked anyway). She's probably taking it as a foregone conclusion that there will be a contested election and Trump will not walk away from that with the nomination. That's my guess.

  5. If that's her assumption she may well be wrong

  6. Mike, I thought I'd share with you what my friends wrote when one first "took the plunge" and re-registered as a Republican (1st of all, this is in an email thread he started asking a group of people if I'm a "genius or a prophet?" -- but believe me, I gave YOU all the credit for making me a Trump Democrat!) He included the following link:
    http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/04/gop-nomination-liberal-enclaves-california-new-york-maryland-213816

Here's the body (some names have been changed to protect the innocent):

"Remember Tom's email about registering Republican and voting for Trump in the primary to undermine the GOP?
Well it turns out we could do exactly that.
News this a.m. following the results in New York is that not only is Calif important, the most influential votes are going to be exactly where we live. Maybe not you so much Tom, if memory serves the Santa Barbara area is pretty Republican. But where Joe & I live, we could be swing voters.
This has convinced me to register Republican and make the difference I've always wanted to make in politics.
    Good call as usual Tom.

And here he is, just about to "do the deed":

"It's like jumping into freezing cold water."

"Tom has convinced me that this is important. I can finally make a difference. Who knew it would be by changing parties and voting in their primary!?
Get ready Donald. You're on your way to the Big Show!"

    Another friend pipes up:

"Forget that 70% "unfavorable" rating. Donald's gonna make us win so much we'll be puking our guts out from all the winning!"

    response:

"He'll be killing us with winning. Who says we don't win anymore? We win at winning."

    Some concern from another:

"But, it could be Trump supporters will be discovered and exiled after the election. Good old exile. We should bring it back."

    To which I respond:

""Exile??"... How about deportation? *Then* we can build a wall. The only way I could jerk off to a picture of Ann Coulter is one showing the look on her face as she's being deported."

And finally this, from the one who first took the plunge:

    "You guys!
Come on over to the R side!
It feels good. So liberating. All that PC BS gone!
I can say whatever’s on my mind and only have to deal with disciplinary actions at work, divorce, loss of friends, glares and fights from strangers and approval from psychos you meet on the internet.
    It’s great!"

See Mike!... that's all you. Are you proud of yourself? You're making a difference! Lol =)

    1. Yes. That's good. Except: if I'm convincing Dems to vote GOP in the primary, and Hillary loses California, I'm not going to be so happy with myself. LOL.

To be sure, she will probably already have ore than 2383 delegates by then.

    2. Well that particular friend expressed that he didn't much care if it was Bernie or HRC. I know you would have jumped in to set him straight... and I do favor HRC, but I'm much more of a Republican Hater than I am a true Democrat.

So my friend switching to GOP may actually have eliminated a vote for Bernie... so it could be a positive on that front as well.

  7. BTW Mike, I see that you have a "comment" over at your old haunt: Diary of a Republican Hater.

Also, I sometimes use Bing instead of Google, especially for images (I like the way Bing is more likely to have some descriptive text pop up when you hover your cursor over an image... Google just shows you the picture's dimensions), so I tried my usual way to get here, searching for:

    Mike Sax diary

It doesn't much matter in Google if it's "diary" or "dairy"... but in Bing, what came up was an old post Lars Christensen did on YOU... back in 2012 I think.... ha!... I'm sure you're aware of it -- I didn't check the comments... but if I ever was I'd forgotten about it.

  8. Yes that was a shining moment of glory. I wrote a post in response. I was tickled. I've had a few moments-like where Miles Kimball wrote about my blog-based on its Alexa rating; he wanted to write about a blog that he written about him. It was when he was new.

Brad Delong linked to me a few times. But that was about it. I'm still waiting for my blog to truly hit the big time. LOL

  9. I am proud of this though. Someone linked to my blog from Democratic Underground.

  10. By the way, Tom, I know you haven't read me much lately, but here is a fun piece, I think.

    http://lastmenandovermen.blogspot.com/2016/04/bill-clinton-and-jerry-brown-in-1992.html

It's about Bill Clinton and Jerry Brown in a debate in the 1992 primary. It was funny stuff. It showed also how certain motifs show up in every Democratic primary.

There is always the lots of small donations candidate. In 1992 it was Brown, 2004 Howard Dean, 2008, Obama, and this year The Bern.

  11. Just love Brown going after Bill's wife-Hillary of course-and Bill coming back and smacking him down.

Bill had the height advantage over Brown to which certainly gave him a certain physical dominance over him.
