There had been a debate. Maybe the man has a conscience some believed as he continued to hold out on endorsing Trump.
"What I think @JBarro gets wrong here is missing that deep in his heart, Paul Ryan is a total fraud."

Yglesias predicted this day was coming back on May 6.
Meanwhile, Rick Perry is also covering himself in a blaze of glory by declaring that Trump will 'rip off Hillary's skin' at a debate.
See, I told you that Trump is a natural Republican. When he talks about waterboarding, remember this is Dick Cheney's party. Even in discussing debates they talk about ripping off skin.

We'll see if Trump even debates. I'm far from certain. It depends maybe on the polls that time. If he's too far behind, maybe he does as he'd have nothing else to lose.
Cillizza also doesn't think much of Ryan's endorsement:

Others never believed for one second the man has a conscience. It's not clear what won over Ryan the last week. The revelation he lied about the vet donations? By the way, the claim that he was vetting the groups since January is also a lie. he actually rushed off checks on the day the Washington Post story came out revealing that he was yet again, a scam artist.
Now it turned out that one of the vet groups he donated to is a scam organization. So much for 'I was just vetting them for six months.'
Was it Trump''s absurd and counterproductive attempt to bully and intimidate the Trump U judge? Did Ryan think Trump calling the judge a Mexican-who was born in Indiana-was Presidential?
It was also totally counterproductive as this only led the judge to unseal court records so he's not just a bully but not a good negotiator at all.
Yet Ryan is won over now. The fact that he gave this endorsement just as Hillary begun her speech is a total coincidink.
Again, many wanted to see Ryan as a man of conscience. Not Paul Krugman and Matt Yglesias. All along they both argued that Ryan is a fraud.
