Paul Ryan is Smart to Maintain Some Distance With Donald Trump

Great line by Debbie Stabenow after the Donald Trump-Paul Ryan pow wow. The Dems are getting lots of great lines now, of course.

Just keep it simple. stupid. Run against Donald Trump and the Merrick Garland card. If you don't need to do more: then don't.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid declared that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is in 'lockstep'-and how does McConnell deny it? He''s endorsed him, after all.

Presumably there is a lot of agreement then. On what aspects? What does he agree with? Deporting 11 million? The Muslim database? Banning Muslims? Leaving Nato? Huge tarrifs on China?

Do they mutually agree on Trump and Putin's mutual admiration? Does McConnell think it would be a good idea to let South Korea and Japan have nuclear weapons? How about when he says you have to treat women like pigs and dogs and bragged about fighting a Vietnam War with venereal disease?

How about Trump refusing to disavow the support of David Duke and other white supremacists like the one who was at first a California Trump delegate? It's called 'mainstreaming.'

I doubt the Senate Majority Leader would talk up these areas of agreement.

Similarly with Paul Ryan he says it was such a good meeting. In what way exactly? Where have they agreed to agree? The question for Paul Ryan as the House Speaker is where do he and Trump agree?

"The Trump-GOP feud lives on."

"Pretty pictures aside, Trump and the party elite still have serious issues to settle."

There has been talk of Paul Ryan having Presidential ambitions in 2020. If he does he's smart not to endorse Trump.

Otherwise, his support for Trump will be used against him for the rest of his career. But Ryan along with every other GOP leader and candidate in the country should be pressed on Donald Trump.

Where exactly do their agreements with him start and end?
