Tonight's GOP Cage Match

Wow, this is going to be fun.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2016/01/14/gop_debate_will_be_smaller_but_hotter_129304.html

I'm sitting here watching the countdown and already there are lots of nice juicy attack ads.

An attack ad on Jeb's 'train wreck campaign'-by Marco Rubio

Another ad takes a shot at Rubio for being a weather vane on immigration as opposed to: Jeb who allegedly has been 'rock solid' on his positions. True, except when he talked about 'anchor babies' after writing about an 'act of love.'

Meanwhile Trump has successfully trolled Ted Cruz whose numbers slipped as Trump ties him up in knots over Birther attacks and his 2012 loan from Goldman Sachs.

But not to be outdone, Rubio has his own Birther issues. While Trump helpfully 'warns' Cruz that the Dems will bring a lawsuit, Rubio already has a lawsuit he's trying to get dismissed.

"As legal experts and politicians continue to question whether it's clear that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is eligible to run for president, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) on Monday asked a Florida court to a dismiss a complaint that argues the Florida senator is not a "natural born citizen," the Tampa Bay Times reported on Thursday."

"In December, a Fort Lauderdale man filed a complaint against both Rubio and Cruz, writing that both senators are "naturalized citizens, or at the very least, simply fail to comply with the common law Supreme Court established definition of natural born citizen," according to the Tampa Bay Times."

"In his motion to dismiss the complaint on Monday, Rubio's lawyers argued that the Florida senator is a "natural born citizen," a requirement to become president. The motion also notes that the complaint filed against Rubio and Cruz "would jeopardize centuries of precedent and deem at least six former presidents ineligible for office."

"Rubio was born in the United States, but his parents did not become American citizens until after his birth. And some birthers argue that he is not a "natural born citizen" because his parents were not citizens."

"Cruz has faced greater scrutiny because he was born in Canada. His mother was an American citizen, so he became a United States citizen at birth. But some legal experts point out that the Supreme Court has not clearly defined a "natural born citizen," leaving room for the court to decide that Cruz does not qualify."

"H/t The Hill"

Ok, so now I'm a George Will Democrat as he attacks Marco Rubio from the Union Leader. I love it. Will had argued a few weeks ago that the GOP more than even taking down Hillary need to focus on taking care of Trump first.

Now Will himself is taking aim at the presumed Establishment darling.

Hey, like Rush Limbaugh says, have fun boys.

  1. Haha... have fun Mike!

This whole birther thing (now that it's metastasized) is just a little reminiscent of Nazis arguing about who's racially pure enough to be allowed to _________ (fill in the blank).

Hasn't anybody suggested Trump's foreign born wife (while not detracting from his citizenship) is nonetheless a threat to American purity near the seat of ultimate power?

    1. Maybe "natural born" means you should have to prove American purity back at least three generations. Isn't that what the Nazis required?

    3. BTW: If Trump's wife actually started to cause him political trouble... just when he could glimpse victory... I have no doubt he'd turn her in as a spy himself and move to aggressively divorce her and have her (and her spy children) deported immediately after. I can see him on stage now showing off his brand new "All American" 23-year old big boobed blonde fiance: waving like Miss America riding a float.
