I Just Had a Very Illuminating Discussion With a Bernie Maniac

Some Bernie trolls were trolling us Hillary bots on Twitter, There was a lot of talk of how selfish Hillary is-how everything she's ever done has been for herself.

Which is very similar to the GOP attack on her over the years and also astonishingly sexist. Would you ever reproach a man for political ambition.

Then I had another very illuminating discussion with another Bernie cultist. I pointed out that Bernie has gotten nothing passed in 26 years in Congress. She answered that he has introduced all this legislation and is known as the amendment king. So I asked her how many of these bills passed. Her response:

"The metric for you is that legislation passed = good? Good legislation that corporatists ignore = bad? "

This kind of makes the my whole point about Bernie and his cultists. They just want symbolism and to feel aspirational. Not to actually pass bills to advance the issues they say matters to them.

Without knowing it, this young Bernie supporter has given us a window in the souls of the Bernie maniacs. For something to actually be passed is almost to sully it.

For this reason, I've argued that Bernie is the Ted Cruz of the Left.

Usually talking to the Bernie folks is a total waste of time. It usually ends with them cursing you out then blocking  you. However, this was very eye opening. They truly don't care about actually passing bills or solving problems.

  1. Dana Milbank essentially says to Democrats: "don't vote for Bernie." I know you're not a Milbank fan Mike, but I thought you might like this one:

"Heck, Trump could even win -- particularly if Democrats nominate a socialist to oppose him -- but the only thing more likely to devastate the Republican Party and the conservative movement than a Trump wipeout in November would be a Trump victory. Either way, he’d cement the Republican Party’s long-term demographic problems and bind conservatism to bigotry and nativism."
