A lot of people seem to have a problem with Chelsea speaking her mind on political issues. For years she's been talked about and she has been the subject of her share of political attacks since the 90s by people that hate her mother and father.
Rush Limbaugh in the 90s made fun of her looks-when she was just a teenager. Currently, the GOP tried to attack Hillary based on what she said to Chelsea on the night after Benghazi. It's hard to hit any lower or to try to violate anyone more than they have tried to violate both Chelsea and her mom.
So now Chelsea speaks her mind, defends her mom and there's an uproar. It's 'fair game' for her to be the subject of political attacks but unbecoming for her engage in politics herself.
Talk about a sexist double standard. But of course many think that feminism and women's issues are just 'identity politics.'

Bernie, for instance, seems to think that women have pretty much achieved full liberation and gender equality. Race is a bigger problem in his mind. Meanwhile even in 2016 the very discussion of women's issues have to be defended as not just identity politics.
I'm actually very proud of Chelsea for finally putting her hat in the ring:
"Democratic presidential contender Bernie Sanders is kicking back at claims made by rival Hillary Clinton’s daughter Chelsea Clinton, who said at a campaign event on Tuesday that Sanders wants to scrap ObamaCare."
"Speaking on CNN moments after the State of the Union address on Tuesday night, Sanders said Chelsea Clinton has not read his healthcare plan, and called her claims that he wants to get rid of ObamaCare and “dismantle” Medicare and private insurance “absolutely wrong.”

But how is it wrong? It does dismantle ACA-as well as Medicare and Medicaid.
"Let’s cover the policy question first. While Clinton wants to build on the reforms of the Affordable Care Act, Sanders supports single-payer insurance, which would mean scrapping our current system and remaking it along the lines of one of the variations of health insurance we see in every other industrialized country. It’s sometimes called “Medicare for all.” But it could be anything from a purely socialized plan like they have in Great Britain, where both insurance and health care itself are largely owned and operated by the government (not likely), to one of the hybrid systems in place somewhere like France, where there’s a basic government plan that covers everyone, then most people buy supplemental private insurance that gives them whatever extra benefits they want (which is somewhat analogous to Medicare and supplemental Medigap plans)."
"Speaking at an event in Iowa, Clinton pointedly contrasted her health-care plan with Sanders’s, claiming that his proposal would turn over health insurance to Republican governors."
“His plan would take Medicare and Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program and the Affordable Care Act health-care insurance and private employer health insurance and he would take that all together and send health insurance to the states, turning over your and my health insurance to governors,” Clinton said, naming the state’s Republican Gov. Terry Branstad. “I don’t believe number one we should be starting over. We had enough of a fight to get to the Affordable Care Act. So I don’t want to rip it up and start over.”
"Clinton called Sanders’s plan a “risky deal.” …
"Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs said that while Sanders advocates a single-payer system, he has not developed legislation as a presidential candidate to implement it. Under a 2013 single-payer bill introduced by Sanders, Briggs said, it was “national legislation for all our states.”
“Secretary Clinton is inaccurate in suggesting that Republican governors would be able to circumvent the law and deny implementation in their states,” Briggs said.

So Bernie chides Chelsea for not reading his plan-but then his spokesman tells us he hasn't released his plan yet. How can Chelsea or anyone else read something Bernie doesn't seem in such a rush to release?
Listen, think of how hard ACA was to pass. And even now all kinds of lies are told about it. Now Bernie literally wants to blowup our healthcare system and start over-eliminate ACA, Medicare, Medicaid, take away everyones employment plans. Yet he makes it sound like the simplest lift in the world.
And by the way look again what he said in response to Chelsea.
"Speaking on CNN moments after the State of the Union address on Tuesday night, Sanders said Chelsea Clinton has not read his healthcare plan, and called her claims that he wants to get rid of ObamaCare and “dismantle” Medicare and private insurance “absolutely wrong.”
"Unfortunately, I have to say, as much as I admire Chelsea, she didn't read the plan,” the Vermont senator said. “What she should know is that we’re the only major country on Earth that doesn’t guarantee healthcare to all people as a right, and yet we end up spending far more per capita on healthcare as do the people of any other nation.”
This is something I've argued many times. Bernie doesn't answer questions. The issue was whether or not other countries have his plan and what we are spending it was whether or not his plan dismantles Medicare, ACA, and private insurance. He simply ignored the point.
Bernie is claiming that those who put up so much opposition to ACA are going to go along with this plan? As Obama said back in 2009:
"This is the position Barack Obama took when he was advocating for passage of the Affordable Care Act. “If I were starting a system from scratch, then I think that the idea of moving towards a single-payer system could very well make sense,” he would say in 2009 when asked by liberals about it. “The only problem is that we’re not starting from scratch.” He was talking about the disruption to the health care system it would cause, but there was also a political reality at work, namely that the chances of successfully getting a single-payer plan through Congress were essentially zero (just look at what it took to get a market-based plan like the ACA through, and it made it by the skin of its teeth)."
The finer points of time path dependent policies is evidently not something Bernie and his followers know anything about. They just know Bernie is a Saint.
