John McCain Sucker Punches Ted Cruz

They really do not like Ted Cruz in the Senate. In the last few days, he's been the target of Birtherism, himself. Trump is now 'worrying' that 'This could be a real problem for him'-of course Trump 'hopes it won't but he worries.'

Ann Coulter bit that apple, tweeting this:

"NYT: Cruz was born outside the U.S. to 1 American parent: "Under the Constitution this makes him a 'natural born citizen.'” Absolutely false"

It's perhaps not surprising that the White House would have some fun with theCruz Birther stuff:

"White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Wednesday that it'd be "quite ironic" if Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) became his party's presidential nominee."

"Earnest — who is President Barack Obama's top spokesman — said that it'd be amusing for Republican voters to back the Canadian-born senator after some conservative conspiracy theorists questioned Obama's own birthplace."

"It would be quite ironic if after seven or eight years of drama around the president's birth certificate, if Republican primary voters were to choose Sen. Cruz as their nominee, somebody who actually wasn't born in the United Sates and who only eight months ago renounced his Canadian citizenship," Earnest said during his daily press briefing."

But what really stands out is what McCain did to Cruz again underscoring the fact that Cruz has no friends in the GOP Senate.

"A great man once said: The arc of the moral universe is long, and it bends toward revenge."

"John McCain proved the power of revenge on Wednesday night when asked about his longtime nemesis Ted Cruz's eligibility to be president, despite being born in Canada."

“I don’t know the answer to that,” McCain said on the "Chris Merrill Show" on Wednesday. “I know it came up in my race because I was born in Panama, but I was born in the Canal Zone, which is a territory. Barry Goldwater was born in Arizona when it was a territory when he ran in 1964."

"Boom goes the dynamite."

"By McCain giving a "you know, that's a good question" response to the question of whether Cruz is eligible to be president, he keeps the story — not a good one for the Texas senator — very much alive."

Live by the Birtherism, die by the Birtherism.

P.S. My only regret is that it's Ted Cruz and not Marco Rubio with the Birther links. But even so, this is pretty damn funny.

  2. Though I probably don't find it as funny as you do. LOL.

The trouble is it's Cruz-who I do want to see do well-rather than Rubio-who I really, really do not want to see do well.

It is funny but it would be funnier if it were Rubio.

I do worry if this could hurt Cruz-Trump has found something that Rush and friends will let him get away with.

  3. For me something is only really funny when it serves what I see as long term interests! LOL

    1. I wouldn't put it past Trump to still try to cast doubt on Rubio from the same direction though though... after all, there's that last name of his... and even worse, his first name! (I still operate under the theory that a sizable percentage of the loony right's incoherent problem with Obama can be traced to his unusual name, not just his blackness or political party). I can imagine Trump saying something like this: "Marco??? Why Marco? He lives in America now... if he's truly one of us, why didn't he anglicize that to 'Mark'? Makes you wonder, doesn't it?"

    2. Better yet... "... if he has truly *become* one of us [like he claims he has], they why didn't he change that to 'Mark'?"

The [like he claims he has] part can be left unspoken: it's implied.
