Who Would Have Thought That First Benghazi Ad of 2016 Campaign Would be From HRC?

This is why presumed next House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is already clearly going to be the gift that keeps on giving.

The Karl Rove playbook is Your strength is your weakness, we will take your biggest strength and turn it into your biggest liability.

This is what they did to Kerry in 2004 and the play was the same with Hillary. While her time as the President's Secretary of State rightfully is a great asset as this was a very important role both in the Administration and on the foreign stage-who can compare to her in terms of foreign policy?-Benghazi had turned this into a liability with the phony Benghazi hearings and fake Emailgate scandal.

But now Hillary has flipped the switch on the RNC. Their greatest weapon has become the weapon she now wields against them.

"It was a matter of time before TV ads about Hillary Clinton’s role in Benghazi were inserted into the 2016 campaign for President, but it’s unlikely that anyone would have expected the first such ad to come from Clinton herself. The democratic frontrunner was handed a gift last week when republican leader and presumptive next Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy bragged on national television about how the republican party had concocted the Benghazi hearings as a political stunt. And now Hillary Clinton has released an ad which forces him to eat his own words."

"Four Americans died when the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi was attacked. Although such attacks have happened with regularly over the past quarter century and were more common under Bush and Reagan than under the Obama administration, republicans in congress have nonetheless held years of hearings about the attack. First it was an attempt at preventing Obama from being reelected, and now years later, it’s an attempt at preventing Clinton – who was Obama’s Secretary of State at the time – from being elected President herself. Now that McCarthy has admitted on film that the investigations were simply aimed at influencing her poll numbers, Clinton feels comfortable taking charge of the issue. And it turns the entire campaign narrative upside down."

As Greg Sargent rightly notes the target of this new ad is betwetting Democrats that David Brock has urged to get off the ledge and the media.

"ABC News reports that the ad is backed only by a “small, five-figure national cable buy.” This suggests that one of the real target audiences for the ad may be Democrats and pundits in Washington. One reason the McCarthy comments were so helpful to the Hillary campaign is that they provided a new target against which her campaign can now go on offense, reassuring all the Democrats who are wringing their hands about how the campaign has lost control of the email story."

By the way, by her getting back on offense with Benghazi and Emailgate the whole basis of the Biden candidacy is cut off at the knees.

Though of course the press is desperate to keep the Biden story alive what is the rationale going forward for him running?

But if you want a gauge of how fast the media narrative has shifted overnight on Benghazi and Emailgate-remember EG is not something separate from BG as some in the media have tried to obscure-see Rachel Bade's new big piece on Politico.

Before she was rifling through Hillary's emails and giving us posts that were word for word leaks of
Trey Gowdy.

Yet her latest on Benghazi is how the Dems are now on the offensive against Gowdy and friends all compliments of presumed future Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
