I mean if you had any doubt before today surely it's put to rest now. The Republican party can't run the country. They aren't even fit to run a pet store.
Charlie Dent as one of the most reasonable Republicans in today's House-which is not saying much-basically called this hostage taking by the Freedom Caucus and even opened the door to the Democrats helping the GOP elect their next speaker.
Another Tea Party guy came on and talked about unifying and talking it to the Senate Dems and the White House.
As if. How can anyone believe this as a party that could lead the nation when they can't even have a functioning House?
Of course, some Tea Partiers on tv just demanded Mitch McConnell's scalp and understandably so. He's like the only actually functioning GOP leader in Washington who's actually even gotten a few things done.
Jason Chaffetz just had a press conference with his wife at his side. He clearly looks like a man who wants the job and his campaigning for the job. But no one has thought he has anywhere near the votes necessary-not close to McCarthy's level.
Rachel Maddow just came on and she made the point that I made in my previous post: Boehner may not be allowed to quit.

Which is pretty ironic. The Freedom Caucus folks were just celebrating his scalp and now by also sandbagging his replacement they are stuck with him for who knows how much longer?
Forget a pet store. I'm not sure about a lemonade stand.
UPDATE: Trump just tweeted:
"Great, Kevin McCarthy drops out of SPEAKER race. We need a really smart and really tough person to take over this very important job!"

He then suggested his daughter, Ivanka. Couldn't be worse.
