Cathy Rogers Booed Off Stage Trying to Defend Benghazi Investigation

I've discussed frequently during the Emailgate attack on Hillary that the nature of the Beltway beast is that it creates a narrative and then it sticks to this narrative until something is able to break through this.

For three months the media hasn't let Hillary catch a break as they've killed her with Emailgate with Biden speculation then finished with razzing her over Bernie.

But Kevin McCarthy has given her an opening now. It's amazing as some like Sean Trende argued that the GOP would regret losing Boehner and though I thought he may be right no one could have guessed how fast Republicans would regret it.

McCarthy has already stepped in it so bad that suddenly Hillary's tormentors are totally on the defensive. It's gotten so bad that this has made it to a top of the page story on Politico.

"McCarthy's Benghazi gift to team Hillary The 2016 Democratic contender and her supporters are taking the offensive against her congressional nemesis."

"But on Thursday, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) called for the disbandment of the panel, while David Brock’s Correct the Record group pounded McCarthy, demanding he withdraw his bid for speaker."

“According to the odds-on-favorite, future speaker of the House, the Benghazi special committee was put together to hurt Hillary Clinton politically,” Reid said. “This is evidence of what Democrats have said all along. … Senate Democratic Leadership sent a letter to Speaker Boehner asking that the Benghazi Select Committee be disbanded. It’s the right thing to do.”

"Republicans, meanwhile, worked to cover for their future leader, saying McCarthy’s comments had been misconstrued and he was referring to the panel’s discovery that Clinton had used a private email server instead of a State.gov account while she was secretary of state."

“Kevin could have said it more eloquently, but what Kevin was trying to get at was: As a result of the truth that’s come out from the Benghazi hearings, it’s had an impact on the trustworthiness factor of Clinton,” said Rep. Steve Stivers (R-Ohio). “I don’t think he was trying to say the purpose was to go after Clinton.”

I've noticed that some pundits-and Politico seems to be suggesting the same thing in this piece-argue that Emailgate can go forward even if Benghazi is discredited but that's wishful thinking. Emailgate is the progeny of Benghazi.

If the BC has to shutdown it can't investigate her emails anymore either.

If it stays open but is wholly discredited then whatever it leaks about her emails has to be poisoned fruit as well.

Sorry, the narrative is changing Beltway pundits, like it or not.

How much was shown what happened to Cathy Rogers in her attempt to defend the Benghazi Committee.

"And the issue has become so instantly radioactive that when House Republican Conference Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers took the stage at the bipartisan Washington Ideas Forum today, the audience booed her as she tried to defend her party’s Benghazi antics. It’s no longer clear how many of the republicans leading the Benghazi charge can even get reelected in moderate districts, because they’ll have to answer for the fraud perpetrated by their party’s leadership. Moreover, it’s a further signal that when the Benghazi dust settles, Hillary Clinton may be the only one standing."
