Biden Needs to Get That the Presidency is Not His Consolation Prize

So, yes, I think many Democrats are in my boat: we're just really over Biden. To me the Original Sin on this trial balloon of his is he placed it with Hillary hating Beltway hack Maureen Dowd.

Right away that's very nasty on his part. This has always been the trouble with his campaign: it has no actual basis. The party isn't itching for him to run just the Beltway press and of course the GOP.

With their primary freak show they hope Biden could do the same thing to our race.

But at best Biden was always the Emailgate candidate. And for him to knock Clinton values against Biden values is rich with his history of plagiarism to say nothing of how he aided and abetted Clarence Thomas in 1988.

To choose him over the first woman President would be a travesty.

A Politico commentator put it well:

"I like Biden well enough but this is getting tiresome. The presidency is not some type of grief counseling so Joe can get an emotional boost after the loss of his son. The presidency is more important than that. And leaking his "son's dying wish" and using it for political gain just seems inappropriate, to say the least. Not to mention Biden would not win, his history of verbal gaffes, his shoddy treatment of Anita Hill, the list goes on and on. He has tried before and there was just NO support for his candidacy, and he will only sully what's left of his reputation."

Running for president is a lousy form of therapy. And if Joe Biden thinks a presidential campaign will heal either him or his family, he is kidding himself.

Campaigns are meat grinders. They crush; they do not mend.

"According to Dovere, sources “say Biden has thought that, perhaps, a presidential campaign is exactly what the family needs to find new purpose and a sense of renewal.”

"I hope not. I hope Biden finds a better reason than that. It is unlikely a presidential race will provide him or his family with either a new purpose or renewal."

See this gets my goat. The Presidency is more important than being therapeutic for the Biden family.

It is well past time for Joe to you know what or get off of the pot.

"Biden must choose his path and soon. With each passing day, with each new story, Biden’s hesitation looks more like political calculation and less like grief."
"Me, I’d tell Biden this:"

"Don’t run for Beau. Don’t run for your family. Don’t run for yourself. Don’t run for your therapy."

"Run for America. And if you can’t do that, don’t run at all."

The path couldn't be more clear. Joe shouldn't run. He should leave his legacy in tact and be with his family.

But we can't afford another Bush. Biden in no way helps the Democrats towards that goal by getting in.
