Bernie's New Latino Outreach Director Wants to Punish Democrats

Bernie gets it that he's weak with Latinos-as well as African-Americans. He's also, as we've seen the last few days very weak on gun control. Or so says Andy Parker who's daughter was a victim of that gunman at the news station last week.

With Latinos things have gotten so bad for Bernie, he has had to hire a special Latino Outreach Director.

"Sen. Bernie Sanders' (I-Vt.) presidential campaign announced on Friday that it has hired a veteran Latino rights activist as its Latino outreach director, marking an escalation of the campaign’s efforts to shore up a constituency that has yet to warm to his candidacy."

"Arturo Carmona, who was executive director of Presente.org, a Los Angeles-based online Latino advocacy group active in the immigration reform fight, will also serve as Sanders’ Southwest political director."

“I am going to work hard to build a strong team that can connect Bernie’s campaign with Latino families,” Carmona said in a statement released by the Sanders campaign. “As the son of an immigrant, his story resembles that of millions of Latinos in the U.S.”

"Carmona said that Sanders’ positions on economic inequality, climate change and criminal justice policy -- not just immigration reform -- will resonate with Latino voters."

But while Carmona says 'Not just immigration reform' he should say 'Despite being weak on immigration reform.'

"Clinton enjoys the support of 57 percent of black and brown Democrats nationwide, according to a Sept. 14 ABC News/Washington Post poll, while Sanders has the backing of just 13 percent."

"Sanders drew criticism from immigration reform activists in July with comments implying that expanding some forms of legal immigration would threaten American jobs. (None, however, denied Sanders’ support for comprehensive immigration reform, which he voted for in 2013.)"

"Yes he voted for that but Huff Po is as usual cherrypicking for Bernie. In 2007 he voted against immigration reform."

"While he doesn't want to deport 11 million people like Donald Trump and the other GOpers he clearly doesn't want too many new immigrants. He would like to freeze our level of immigration which is understandably not a friendly position for Latinos. "

What is further interesting is who Mr. Carmona is. He's not just any immigration reform advocate. He has an anti Democrat agenda where he believes President Obama and the Democrats betrayed Latinos-rather than they did everything they could under divided government-and wants to punish them in future elections.

Perfect. Elect more Republicans-that will get us immigration reform.

"President Obama, once our supposed savior, has deported more people—separating more families, terrorizing more immigrant communities—than any American president before him. We won't soon forget the midnight ICE raids, the out-of-control Border Patrol that has killed numerous unarmed Mexicans and other migrants, or any other aspect of his ruthless enforcement of America's broken, inhumane immigration laws."

Yes, but the President also had a couple of very strong executive orders that brought relief for millions of undocumented Latinos and their families.

As for the claim that Obama has deported more people than any President before him this demands context.

He focused on illegal immigrants with criminal records rather than previous Administrations which didn't make this distinction.

But it's interersting why if Carmona wants more immigration reform he's going to Bernie who is much weaker on reform than  Hillary.

And if he wants to boycott Democrats why is he with Bernie who supposedly is running as a Democrat?

This Emoprog demand for purity is nothing new. It was how the worst GOP Governor in the nation, Paul LaPage got elected twice-by Emoprogs successfully running third party candidates.
