GOP Establishment Again Predicts Trumps Fall

Remember when him making fun of McCain's war record was supposed to be the downfall of Trump? That poll had shown him with 24% support but that had been dismissed because it was before what he said about McCain.

Well they were dead wrong that time. But now they believe they have their smoking gun: his sexist insult of Megyn Kelly. So the takeaway-assuming this is right and Trump really does see his numbers hit; again they've been wrong before-is that it's ok to make sexist attacks on other women-Rush makes them on a daily basis about Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama-but they draw the line at Ms. Kelly.

She's the one Sacred Cow every knee must bow down before. Conservatives have no use for political correctness except if you're talking about Megyn Kelly. What makes her so special? Maybe because she lectures people that Santa Claus is white-'he just is.'

Erick Erickson who dis-invited Trump to that Red State event has more than his fair share of sexist comments and it's not even clear he believes women belong in politics at all.

Meanwhile the serious candidates in the race-Jeb, Rubio, and Scott Walker-don't think there are any exceptions to their opposition to abortion. I say this based on Jeb's record in Florida, Walker's comments at the debate and that Rubio was mighty embarrassed to admit he had once voted for an anti-abortion bill with those exceptions-so embarrassed that he lied and claimed that never happened.

But women shouldn't worry about that. After all they defended the honor of Megyn Kelly so clearly there's no war on women.

Fallout from a crude attack on Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly and the departure of a top political adviser roiled Donald Trump’s campaign Saturday, leading Republicans to question whether the laws of political gravity have finally caught up with the real estate mogul.

"Trump’s insinuation Friday night that Kelly’s tough questioning during Thursday’s debate was a result of her menstruating — an assertion that followed a series of other attacks on the popular Kelly — left many wondering whether he could weather the latest controversy and remain in the race, even as his campaign continued to act as if nothing was amiss."

"Despite widespread condemnation — and getting disinvited from the RedState gathering of conservative activists in Atlanta following the Kelly comment — Trump’s campaign continued to take a combative tone Saturday.

"Many Republicans believe Trump may have finally picked a fight he can’t win, with some going so far as to call for him to withdraw from the race."

"Renee Plummer, an influential Republican activist in New Hampshire who has not yet endorsed a candidate, called the comment “terrible.”

“He needs to get out,” she said.

It's hard to take these establishmentarians seriously, however, as many of them claimed that Jeb and Rubio won Thursday's debate. According to Drudge, Bush polled at only 2.07% which was lower than anyone except Christie.

Again, if Carly Fiorina is going to break in to the adult's table next time let's hope she takes Christie's seat.

Don't get me wrong at the end of the day I do believe this will end up Jeb vs. Hillary. But it must be said, Jeb's campaign so far has been much weaker than his brother's. W actually soared in the polls in 1999 and he had an early 17 point lead against Gore.

To be sure, in many ways Jeb's problem is that W completely contaminated the Bush name. W was winning right off the bat because of the Bush name-in the early stages many voting for him thought is father was running again.

Now the Bush name is radioactive. There' s a reason the campaign is called Jeb!
