Wow. How did this happen? All it took was Trump. Maybe the man is as great as he thinks he is and really 'can move mountains.'
"A while back, I urged Rush Limbaugh to use his incredible influence on the right and call out Donald Trump for his irresponsible comments. In the intervening weeks, Trump’s rhetoric only intensified. Yet, even after Thursday night’s GOP debate — when it became painfully obvious that Donald Trump is a liberal — Limbaugh continued to prop up The Donald. I don’t want to be accused of misrepresenting what he said, so I’ll simply provide the headline and link from his own website:
“The Orders to Take Out Trump Must Have Gone to Fox, Not the Other Candidates.”

"Yes, Rush and I are on the same side after all these years! All it took was Trump. What I've said all along is that Trump's parody of the Right is more appealing to the base than the real thing."
"The only question is whether Trump is a intentional or unintentional parodist."
"But seriously, Trumps domestic policies would probably be better than anyone else in the GOP field anyway."
"He clearly is for single payer and is in reality prochoice and he knows that Democratic economic policies are superior to Republican economic policies."

"What's great is that the other Repulicans are so scared to deviate even slightly from Tea Party orthodoxy and Trump just comes out and says to the whole world that single payer works great in Canada and Sweden and it could have worked here 'at another time' -ie, before he became a candidate in the Republican party.

HT: My star reader Tom Brown. Who else? In my chat in the comments section with Tom I made this comment:

"But there is at least one conservative blogger and talk radio host who is presenting an intellectually honest critique of Donald Trump. Although Erick Erickson suggests the establishment is ultimately responsible for creating the environment where Trump would flourish, he pulls no punches in a recent blog post."
"Erickson also notes (and this really can’t be said enough) that Trump was “a Hillary Clinton donor,” a supporter of a “Canadian style universal healthcare system,” a past “supporter of abortion rights,” someone who told MSNBC he was “evolving on gay marriage,” and someone who thought Mitt Romney’s rhetoric about illegal immigrants was too harsh."
"If you like Trump but don't volunteer for his campaign don't blame us liberals when he loses the nomination.
"The GOP will bury him in oppo like they did to Newt in 2012."
I literally am bursting out laughing. It's been 15 mintues and I still haven't stopped laughing about this one. You go ConnorMcmaub. I urge you my fellow liberals to go out and do likewise. Help out a Tea Party friend and make sure hey don't let Reince Priebus and friends sandbag Mr. Trump.
Matt Lewis hasn't been successful in getting Rush to be the 'New William F. Buckley of the conserative movement yet' and we'll see if he and the many others like him finally get to Rush.
Hopefully Rush doesn't choose now to suddenly start listening to reason.

I'm confused. You mean Mitt's anti-immigration wasn't too harsh? Yet Trump's rhetoric has even harsher.
By the way, I almost worry that Trump is letting us liberals have too much fun now. Listen to what ConnorMcmaub wrote in the comments section at the Daily Beast:
"The GOP will bury him in oppo like they did to Newt in 2012."

And Rush talks about having more fun than a human being should be allowed to do. I'm there. Me and Rush are on the same page now.
P.S. Nope, I'm still laughing over that one.
Haha! Mike, you ARE having too much fun. But perhaps you could use some more. First I should report that it looks like my persistent pestering of econometrician Dave Giles has apparently
ReplyDeletereigniting the "great Smith-Sadowski row of 2015."
Also, I found a fun concluding sentence fragment in Sadowski's latest that I thought I'd run by John Cochrane to see how he reacts (to my surprise John allowed it through... it was off topic after all).
Enjoy!
... he allowed it through, but didn't respond.
DeleteAnything that reignites Smith-Sadowski is worth it. Good work Tom! I wonder how long it takes Mark to play the 'propaganda card' this time.
DeleteAgain, I love a geekfight-almost as much as a chick fight. Where else in the world can you get such animation out of a discussing over H-P filters and nonstationary series, and unit roots?
DeleteI'm so impressed with my last comment I think I'm going to paste it out Jason and Mark.
DeleteOk I Just pasted it.
DeleteBTW, you have any photoshop skilz? ... I'd love to see a pic of you and your new buddy Rush... perhaps smoking cigars, with huge grins on your faces... or perhaps with a huge grin on your face and an "annoyed at the world" scowl on Rush's.
