I looked at this in detail in a previous post.

The beauty of this conspiracy theory though is: it's a conspiracy theory. Arguably conspiracy theories can lead to huge misdirections of attention and resources.
Like let's say it's true. Then this would suggest that the GOP needs to focus all its attention on drumming out Trump-it seems Trump is going to be around awhile.

Now one argument against conspiracy theories is that they lead you to act in the exact way you're targets would want you to act.
Parenthetically, there is a counternarrative out of the 9/11 Truther movement that argues against the prejudice against conspiracy theories,

This one in particular is a classic in rethinking conspiracy theories. All about that bugaboo of the firebaggers, Cass Sunstein.

But I digress.
One problem for the GOP is that Trump sidetracks them and leads them to think that he's their only problem when in truth he's just one very noticeable symptom that is sucking all the air out of the room.
P.S. Who knows maybe we liberals ourselves are being trolled. But to me it seems that Trump's campaign is going perfectly, that I couldn't have liberal Democrats couldn't have written it any better.
It will be fascinating to watch
