I have no idea why he hopes this. Not that his judgment isn't worthless.
"Donald Trump is ready for a general-election fight with Elizabeth Warren."
"Pocahontas is at it again! Goofy Elizabeth Warren, one of the least productive U.S. Senators, has a nasty mouth. Hope she is V.P. choice," Trump tweeted Friday morning, hours after Warren assailed the presumptive Republican nominee during a speech at the American Constitution Society, first calling him a "thin-skinned racist" and continuing the "thin-skinned" taunt throughout her stemwinder."

I guess it's just his attempt to counterpunch her after her brutal body blows on him.
I'm not sure she is the best VP pick for Hillary-I'm more and more thinking Al Franken's the best choice.

However, I've begun to think maybe she would be better than Julian Castro. I think Castro has a great future ahead of him, but maybe he is a bit young.
One way or the other Hillary's team will vet him and make that decision.

But I don't think Trump wants to go up against Warren. His only response is to engage in a slur against Native Americans or peddle some other fake Scott Brown attack from the past.
And she made an excellent point yesterday. While Mitch McConnell admits Trump is not qualifed to be President-hence he wants him to use a script.
Yet at the same time, he wants Trump to choose the next 3 or 4 Justices to the Supreme Court.
How does that work.
Meanwhile Vice President Biden also made a great point. Trump has already promised to engage in behavior as President that is an impeachable offense.
"Elizabeth Warren‘s speech on the judiciary/roast ofDonald Trump was just the opening act for Vice President Joe Biden, who spoke at the same event tonight and raised the alarm about Trump’s attacks on the judge in the Trump U case."
"Biden brought up how––in trashing the judge––Trump said, “We’ll come back in November. Wouldn’t that be wild if I’m president and I come back to do a civil case?”
"Biden said there’s no other way to take than than a “direct threat” to a independent branch of government, signaling that the GOP nominee views the judiciary as “a tool for him to manipulate” so he can do what he wants."
"He said Trump would be abusing his power and if he does what he threatens, it “would border on an impeachable offense.”

Think about it. If he's going to use his power as POTUS to win a private case for himself, that is an impeachable abuse of power.
As to the question of whether Trump's clear lack of understanding of the separation of powers or his racism worry you more, to me the answer is both.
As President he'd also be responsible to uphold federal anti discrimination laws. As he sees the very idea of anti discrimination as political correctness, he can't be trusted here either.
Meanwhile, he has also stated that his Vice President will be a white male-so he's discriminating in his very choice for VP.

I have no idea why Trump would want that either.
ReplyDeleteBTW, maybe Erick Erickson is smoking the good stuff, but look what he posted today (a plot to steal the nomination from Trump at the convention):

Jennifer Rubin echos why delegates might be able to withhold their votes from Trump as a matter of conscious today as well:

I left a call to arms over at Sumner's site, for all the Trump lovers there to make sure the underhanded weasels don't get away with it. Lol. (probably the most overtly racist comment I've ever left in my life... I'd been making fun of the alt-right's use of multiple parentheses around a (((name))) to indicate it's a Jewish name in early comments... which infuriated one guy (Bill Ellis) until I explained what I was doing... but now I went full force with that, and I added lots of stuff about "white America" and "the will of white people" being threatened... Lol).
I was going for something that would be both insulting and alarming to the alt-right, neo-reactionary, white-nationalilst, and white-whatever over there.
And then I saw this, which warmed my heart:
