The Trump Effect and John McCain

Who would have ever thought his seat would be in jeopardy? Yet it is now, and the thanks goes to one man: Donald Trump.

"PPP has McCain down 2 points to @RepKirkpatrick in Arizona. The Trump effect."

We are seeing a clear Trump effect now. McCain losing in AZ, and now, Trump is dragging him down among INDs."

This is particularly cruel for McCain as Trump is the guy who mocked his time as a POW in Vietnam.

Yet McCain insists he will vote for Trump.

McCain is by no means the only GOP Senator in trouble.

There's Kelly Ayotte in NH.

There's Johnson being badly hurt in Wisconsin.

Meanwhile, Pat Toomey is also being hurt and only leads narrowly in Pennsylvania

as is Portman in Ohio.

The irony is that by McCain and other GOPers insisting that they support Trump they are hurting themselves.

McCain could tell Trump where to go after what he said about his service and benefit himself in the polls at least somewhat.

Todays senate polls show how toxic Trump is to downticket republicans. If they drop Trump, it may help them while hurting Trump"

This is why for the Dems this year, simple and boring does it: just run against Trump no matter who your Senate opponent is.
