Trump Keeps Making More Friends With the Fairer Sex

I argued in a recent post that by November Trump will offend every woman in the country-outside of maybe Susan Sarandon-who thinks a wall is a small price to pay for keeping that woman out of the White House.

Ok, maybe Melania will stay with him and maybe Ivanka-though Ivanka wasn't able to vote for him in NY.

Trump says he will do great with woman. Meanwhile two thirds of white women have a negative view of him.

Rachel Maddow:

“To say that the woman you’re running against, that her achievement is basically the result of some sort of affirmative action, some favor being paid to her as a woman, and that as a human being she is patently unqualified when she is the former two term Senator from New York and the former Secretary of State and has the experience that she’s had,” Rachel Maddow opined during her show this week, “I do think that even a lot of republican women will read that wrong.”

"Maddow’s implication is that female republican voters, who are already leery of Donald Trump according to various polling, may have an even harder time swallowing the idea of voting for him now that he’s attacking Hillary Clinton in such a ridiculously sexist manner. Even the wife of Chris Christie, who has endorsed Trump, appeared visibly troubled by the remarks."

Indeed. As my Twitter buddy R Joseph notes:

"Donald Trump will motivate people to get out and vote Democrat, Republican Women will vote for Democrats or stay home."

Elizabeth Warren also is coming to Hilary's defense. She was angry enough about his comments that he called into the Boston Globe:

"Senator Elizabeth Warren says Donald Trump’s latest critique of Hillary Clinton shows his weakness — not to mention his sexism."

“Donald Trump clearly feels threatened by Secretary Clinton’s qualifications to be president so he’s attacking Hillary Clinton for being a woman,” Warren said in a telephone interview with the Globe. “That’s what weak men do. It is an old story, and I don’t think the American voters will fall for it.”

"Asked how female candidates who are accused of using the gender card can fight back — without being accused of wielding that card — Warren responded, “Just get out there and do your job every day.”

“We need someone in the White House who isn’t afraid to fight for equal rights for women,” said Warren. “That person is not Donald Trump.”

Warren also posed a question of her own: “I hoped you were going to ask me if I thought he was a sexist,” Warren said.

“That’s like asking if he has bad hair,” she said. “He wears the sexism out front for everyone to see.”

A sexist with bad hair...

Gloria Steinem agrees:

"While hosting the Gloria Awards on Wednesday night, Gloria Steinem praised Hillary Clinton, dropped the F-bomb twice, and likened Donald Trump to a Barbie doll at a tanning salon."

"I think I’m sort of required to say something unacceptable right away, so welcome to this great fan-fucking-tastic — how many of you have been with us at least once before?" Continuing her opening speech, she nodded to some trailblazing women (Harriet Tubman gracing the $20 bill, Jane Addams, Ruth Bader Ginsburg) before comparing Donald Trump to a plastic doll who fake-bakes at the spa:

"Now, I have to say there’s one person who isn’t here and who’s never come to our events, and I don’t know why, and that’s Donald Trump. But I noticed there is new evidence of equality in the air because he so constantly berates women and berates good ones like Rosie O’Donnell. I noticed that women have yet to berate him — Barbie doll hair, a sun lamp tin can with cucumber circles over the eyes, and every once in a while when his extensive jacket swings open, a gelatinous mask ..."

"Of course, he was born on third base and he thinks he hit a home run, but he may find out what real equality feels like. Fortunately, there are men in this room, each of whom all by themselves makes up for Trump."

"Steinem later told the Cut what she thinks of Trump's woman card."

"He doesn’t deserve comments. Fuck him!" she said (second F-bomb). "No, it is true that because he has been so critical of how women look, people are now looking at how he looks, which is a disaster. ... Look at the poll numbers and understand what a gender gap he has against him. He would never say that about race. Even he wouldn’t say that about race."

"Actually, Trump did drop the race card — in 1989, 27 years ago. What could be worse? Oh, that's right: real children playing with a real Trump doll."

It's clear Trump saying Hillary is only here because of her gender is a very effective way to close the gender gap.

Ok, so, he hopes to make up for it with a record white male turnout? Yet he is underwater even among them.
