Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is Being Primaried by a Berner

This is not surprising. Ms. Wasserman-Schutlz has been absurdly and unfairly demonized for putting her thumb on the scales of the primary battle between Hillary and Bernie. There is no proof of this, of course.

The only thing the Berners can point to is they had a few weekend debates. Of course, no one said a word when the GOP had its weekend debates later on. The reason for the weekend debates was simply because that's how the networks want it-cable stations do weeknight debates, network stations prefer weekends.

The Dems have won some important battles in Maryland-with Chris Van Hollen- and Pennsylvania-with Katy McGinty. Let's see if they can win in Florida as well.

The Berner candidate is of course bragging about small donations.

"The source of the money is a point of pride for Canova, who was criticized last month by Wasserman Schultz for getting out-of-state donations."

“We have more donations in the State of Florida than Debbie Wasserman Schultz. This is a reflection that our progressive message is spreading here in South Florida,” Canova, who first announced his cash haul on WPLG Local 10 in Miami, told POLITICO Florida via email late Tuesday."

The mammoth haul for the political newcomer isn’t a big shock for those who watched Canova, a Nova Southeastern University law professor, pull in an eye-popping $537,000 in the first quarter of fundraising that ended March 31. Wasserman Schultz reported raising $575,000 during that period. Canova’s campaign on Friday said via email that he received another $300,000 in April alone, and that’s after President Barack Obama endorsed Wasserman Schultz.

In its Friday email about its April fundraising, the Canova campaign said it received 17,756 individual contributions in the month, that the overall average contribution was just $18.76 and that of the 23,404 total donors as of the end of April, only nine "have maxed out.”

The campaign says it soon will have 50,000 contributions from 25,000 individual donors."

The good news: this is a district which supported Hillary Clinton by a 69-30 margin, and President Obama has endorsed Wasserman-Schutlz. The last thing we want is to become like the GOP where our leaders are always being 'Cantored.'
Ms. Wasserman-Schultz, unlike Bernie or likely this Canova guy, actually raises money for the party  rather than plays at being a purist all day.
It would be a major loss if she were defeated. I haven't seen any polls.
Canova calls her a 'corporate Democrat' for the sin of supporting fast track authority for Obama on TPP. Perfect. A holy war over free trade. The obsession over free trade is a little embarrassing considering that it's a hobby horse of Donald Trump.
TPP is not going to take away anyone's job-it's about geopolitics, actually. It's part of President Obama's 'pivot to Asia' with the goal of getting closer to SouthEast Asian countries like Vietnam and Laos as a buffer against China-which was getting a little arrogant after the financial crisis. China celebrated our demise a little too soon.
Meanwhile. Mr. Canova lives in a glass house:
"Wasserman Schultz’s challenger, Tim Canova, teaches finance law at Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law, a nether-ranked law school in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. that completely fabricated its Above the Law ranking, according to Above the Law."
