Thank You California

Let's face it. We knew that Hillary was the nominee going into last night. We knew she'd get a majority even of pledged delegates-unlike Obama and most past Democratic nominees.

The real sticking point was California. A narrative out there was that if Bernie was able to win Cali even by a couple points he'd have some sort of major leverage for the convention and be able to be more pushy in terms of the platform.

But Tom Brown's state came through and gave Bernie what was a pretty embarrassing loss when you think about it. Considering how much time he spent there, where's the beef?

He got blown out in New Jersey, lost South Dakota and got blown out by double digits in Cali.

Cali has got to hurt. When you think about how peevish and self-righteous this guy is now, imagine him if he'd won anything of actual consequence? But like in NY, he put all his chips in California and did an awful lot of boasting before the fact.

California didn't matter but it gives him nothing to brag about. It's just another big, urban, diverse state that he got crushed in. There's just no way when you look at how bad he lost New Jersey-a state that is very representative of the Democratic party-and then getting blown out in California and then say he has any claim on anything.

Jerry:

"Camp Sanders previously said a pledged delegate majority & win in CA would make his case. Fail on both. Where are the goal posts moving now?"

Had he won Cali he would have had no real case, but he would have had something of a fake one. Not really but it would have been something of a talking point.

But he literally has nothing to offer.

A win would have given him fake leverage. A double digit loss leaves him with not even fake leverage.

Now, even Matt Yglesias says it's time for Bernie to admit he's lost and drop out.
