I mean for years liberals have held up Europe as a model for the US to follow but surely no liberal would want to trade places with Europe now? The EU is simply strangling progressive policy in Europe.
In America, we see the President now pushing the limits on the possible for us daily-who thought we'd get an embassy in Cuba, gainful employment regulations on colleges and for the DOJ to push back against price fixing by the airlines-along with all the more well known accomplishments like gay marriage and the ACA?
As Stephen King recently commented in a tweet 'You can marry whoever you want? You can get affordable health care? What in God's name is this country coming to?"

The Obama Administration is largely trying to stay out of the current fight but is obviously concerned. Obama has spoken out in behalf of Tsipras:
"Earlier this month, Mr. Obama expressed sympathy for the new Greek government as it sought to roll back the tough bailout program"
“You cannot keep on squeezing countries that are in the midst of a depression,” Mr. Obama said

Obama has tried to minimize the fallout from Greece:
The Obama administration has repeatedly emphasized that the U.S. has limited direct economic ties to Greece, so any meltdown there should have a limited impact on the U.S. economy.
"But experts and analysts are less worried about the direct impact of Greek struggles on the global economy than they are about the unpredictable and unprecedented state of affairs injecting fresh doubt into global financial markets."
"If fears over Greek debt begin to spread to other less financially sound European nations, like Spain and Portugal, there is a concern that contagion effect could set off a broad financial crisis and send markets tumbling, which would be felt in the U.S."

Of course the GOP has a very helpful take on Greece:
Meanwhile, Republicans have pointed to Greece’s woes as a warning sign, arguing the U.S. could face similar challenges if it fails to rein in its own finances.
“If you want a peek into our future with Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, then look at what’s happening in Greece today,” tweeted Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) Monday. “Greece gave us democracy, and now they’re showing us how to kill a democracy.”
He sounds more ignorant than even the German finance minister, Woflgan Schauble. These comments are so wrong you don't even know where to start other than there is no similarities whatsoever between the US and Greece.

The real threat of Greece is that a Grexit could end the euro-it could begin the whole thing collapsing like a house of cards.
