EU-Greece Battle is a Battle of Eurocrats vs. Democrats

That is what this is fundamentally about. The good work of Ambrose Pritchard shows us that we are now facing a Grexit that neither side wanted because of EU arrogance that reached its nadir with an attempt not to wrench every last possible measure of austerity from the Greek people but to destroy their duly elected Prime Minister in the process.

It's fitting as this is the original sin of the EU-it's fundamentally anti democratic nature where the political rights of its citizens are usurped by unelected and unaccountable foreign technocrats at the EU.

Make no mistake about it they had Tsipras where they wanted him but like the GOP Congress couldn't take yes for an answer. This is because they wanted more than just austerity-they wanted to break Tripas and his party for the sin of standing up to them.

This is what Pritchard wrote back in December, 2014-which was picked up by Varoufakis at his blog.

"In this powerful, balanced article, published today in conservative UK daily THE TELEGRAPH, Ambrose Evans-Pritchard makes important points on Greece and a prospective SYRIZA administration:"

"Events have rudely exposed the illusion that the Greek people will submit quietly to a decade of colonial treatment and debt servitude… Greece was sacrificed to buy time for the alliance, like the Spartans at Thermopylae. It was subjected to an unworkable economic experiment, in defiance of known economic science and principles. Europe’s leaders have betrayed their a special duty of care to Greece. They may at last have met their match in the ice-cool Mr Tsipras.

The EU did meet their match here which is why they have spread so much calumny about him. You wonder why they were so surprised. This is what Tripas had run on-pushing back on the austerity demands. Yet they didn't believe it-they figured he'd done what has always been done in the EU until then-kicking the teeth of the voters to please the EU.

The Eurocrats make some very poor friends. They threw their friends-the more obedient predecessors of Tripas under the bus never willing to throw them a bone for political cover. Now their anti democratic zeal has hoisted them on their own petard.

Although this is not what Tsipas and Syrzia want, Grexit may yet prove to be the best-the only-thing for Greece's economy.
