Rush's Loss of French Fries Up to 98

Of course that's no big deal as he has "16,000 sponsors." Still one can't but notice that this did seem to hurt him on Thursday when he had over 4 minutes of dead air during commercial breaks.   At this point it seems that he is mostly relying on free public service ads.

"The advertisers were reportedly included in a Premiere memo circulated to radio station traffic managers and obtained by Radio-Info.com, laying out the growing reach of the advertiser exodus, which has now ensnared other controversial radio hosts."

It's not just him who's being damaged it's the whole conservative talk show brand-Mike Savage, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, et. al.

It may be that this is a new era where Rush's act just doesn't translate anymore. It goes back to Imus and then of course Beck getting run off Fox.

It's what they call in the judiciary, precedent, and it's hard to argue with. I mean from the point of view of the advertisers that's a hard argument to argue with.

Limbaugh more than anyone is tough to feel sorry for. He's made a career of some pretty sorry bullying of women, blacks, the poor, unions.

For all that he may really be clueless that this may be different. To paraphrase what Glenn Beck once said-of course it got him fired-Rush seems to have a deep-seated hatred of women, and blacks for that matter.

Indeed when you listen to his comments about Sandra Fluke and his more recent comments about "over-educated single, young white women" you get the idea that in Zizekean terms, he really resents the idea of female jouissance.

He seems to think that anyone who has birth control is a sexual freak, having sex every hour of every day. Evidently unless you have abnormal levels of sexual activity you should have no need for birth control.

Again for those-first and foremost Rush, but others claim this too including some liberals-who think this can't hurt him, it clearly already has. Why would Premiere have made him give an apology so soon, on a Saturday afternoon to boot, if this was no big deal?

Clearly losing almost 100 sponsors is a very big deal which is why he's now down to playing public service ads. For those who think it can't work it already is.
